An American woman was found dead in an apartment after partaking in ‘extreme sex’ before cops arrested her husband during their vacation in Spain.

The body of the woman, 44, was discovered inside a tourist apartment located in Plaza Enrique Garcia Herrer, Malaga, on April 6.

Spanish police quickly arrested her husband, 50, as sources close to the case revealed to local media that the death may have been related to some ‘extreme sexual practices’ that the pair were involved in.

The husband was arrested for reckless homicide following the woman’s death.

According to local reports, the case was being investigated as gender-based violence, before being upgraded to homicide since the current evidence points to an accidental death during extreme or risky sexual practices in an ‘intimate context’.

However, local media has stated that new procedures carried out by investigators led to detectives believing that these would place the events in a context of sexist violence.

On Monday, the 50-year-old stood before a judge at the Investigative Court number 9 of Malaga, who ordered the suspect’s provisional detention without bail, according to Spanish press.

Judicial sources confirmed to La Opinion De Malaga, that the case will now be taken on by the Violence Against Women Court, due to the nature of the case.

The events emerged last Saturday when local police were alerted to the unresponsive woman in an Airbnb style flat located the historic center of the city.

Medics who rushed to the property could reportedly only certify the death of the tourist, at which point the National Police took over the investigation to figure out the cause.

The body was then transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine to undergo an autopsy and forensic study.

If the sexist motivation is confirmed, it would be the third fatality of its kind in Malaga so far this year.

The Spanish National Police are continuing their investigations into the case.
