Carnie Wilson proudly shared an update on her health to Instagram on Monday.

The 55-year-old singer shared that she has lost 40lbs by excluding certain foods from her diet, and she feels better than ever these days.

And the pal of Chynna Phillips shared before and after photos to show followers how different she looks.

‘Another before and “during”… my health journey!’ began the performer.

‘This is 40 pounds down. I feel really different. I need to start exercising more to make the scale start to move again, but I’m so proud and pumped,’ shared Wilson.

‘Knowing that I did this PURELY through diet – no gluten or sugar, no butter and keeping fats down too.

‘Lately I have indulged in cheese and nuts which have more fat. If I chose not to eat corn tortillas, nuts and cheese – there’s no way I could keep this up.’

She is the daughter of Brian Wilson and in 1989 co-founded the pop music trio Wilson Phillips with her younger sister Wendy. From 1995 onwards, she has also been a host or guest star on a variety of television shows.

The beauty has been open about her weight for decades.

‘I’m scared to say what I’m about to say,’ she began while pausing to talk about donuts, which she says is her comfort food.

She continued: ‘I have to have a surgery. 16 years ago I lost a bunch of weight and I had a breast lift and an augmentation and the implants have ruptured now.’

She says she debated sharing the news with people, but decided its such a common thing to have happen to women, she felt compelled.

‘I have to go have them taken out and face this reconstruction, which is really scary… I wasn’t sure if I was going to share it, but I am sharing it … it’s important.’

The singer reveals she might not have made the same decision today.

‘Today I wouldn’t have put them in. I’m different now; I have different priorities.  This is scary, and I’m going to face this and I’m going to get over it,’ she shared.

And the singer revealed her mom is helping her get through it.

‘My mom said to me, “Carnie, this is going to be a little hurdle, a little bump, and it’ll all be in the past soon.”‘

In 2012, she turned to surgery again – this time lapband surgery – after gaining back most of the weight.

She told FOX News at the time: ‘I’m definitely up in weight. I’m looking forward to getting an exercise routine again.’

The performer had admitted that she turns to food because it’s how she deals with problems.

‘I’ve had so much stress in the last year so it’s really a struggle,’ said the star.

In the past year she has been balancing raising her two children – Lola and Luci – while also performing.

‘You try to pay the bills, you try to keep your life going and there’s pressure. It’s the daily grind of life,’ Wilson added.

She has been working since a young age.

She co-founded Wilson Phillips with her younger sister Wendy and childhood friend Chynna Phillips when they were in their teens.

They released two albums, Wilson Phillips and Shadows and Light, which between them sold twelve million copies.

The group also charted three No. 1 singles and six top 20 hits in the United States before disbanding in 1993.

Carnie & Wendy Wilson continued to record together and they joined with their father for the 1997 album The Wilsons.

In 2003, Carnie attempted to launch a solo music career with the album For the First Time.

Then Carnie regrouped with Wendy and Chynna as Wilson Phillips in 2004.

They released a third album, named California which had cover songs from the 1960s and 1970s, and inspired by The Mamas & the Papas and the Beach Boys.

In 2006, Carnie released an album of lullabies and in 2007, a Christmas album.
