The First Omen star Nell Tiger Free has revealed her father ‘nearly fainted’ while watching the gory new prequel.
The film, set for release on April 5 2024 – follows an American woman (Servant star Tiger Free, 24,) sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church – but she uncovers a chilling conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of an Antichrist.
The First Omen also stars Oscar nominee Bill Nighy, 74, as a priest who spearheads the dark conspiracy – with the film’s release coming nearly 50 years after iconic 1976 film The Omen, starring Gregory Peck.
Speaking to People she said: ‘My mom does not like horror films — she’s very, very squeamish — so she had to sit next to me at the premiere. And I swear to God, I think I have nail marks in me. She was gripping onto me so tight the entire time.
Revealing her diabetic dad ‘fainted’ during her birth, she said he ‘nearly’ passed out during the film.

Speaking to People she said: ‘ My mom does not like horror films — she’s very, very squeamish — so she had to sit next to me at the premiere. And I swear to God, I think I have nail marks in me. She was gripping onto me so tight the entire time’
Reflecting on her grisly onscreen moments, she said: ‘I’ve had to have a lot of bad things happen to me on screen. I’ve been shot in the head, I’ve been burned alive, a lot of stuff. So with this one, especially in those final scenes, she was really struggling with it.’

The First Omen also stars Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga and Ralph Ineson and is directed by Arkasha Stevenson.
The trailer begins with Free’s character arriving in Rome, along with flashbacks of her life beforehand.
Playing in reverse, nuns are seen lying on the floor, before an explosive car crash, wedding and sex scene is shown.
A tagline teases: ‘To control those who don’t believe, create something to fear.’
A nun is seen carrying a newborn baby, as Nighy (playing Lawrence) declares: ‘You don’t have to be afraid, this child is his way.’
Harvey Stephens was just five-years-old when he played the devil-child Damien Thorn in the 1976 cult classic film alongside Peck and Lee Remick as adoptive parents Robert and Katherine Thorn.

The film follows Damien, a young child replaced at birth by his father (unbeknownst to his wife) after their child dies shortly after birth.
The family is struck by violent deaths and unexplained events – with the Thorns realizing Damien is in fact the prophesied Antichrist.
The Omen received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $60 million at the U.S. box office and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of 1976.
The film earned two Oscar nominations, winning Best Original Score for Jerry Goldsmith.

A remake of The Omen was released in 2006 starring Julia Stiles, Liev Schreiber and Mia Farrow.
There were also two television series, 1995’s The Omen and 2016’s Damien – which served as a direct sequel to the film.
