Presenter Ken Hose has passed away at the age of 85.

The sad news was announced by 7News Queensland presenter Samantha Heathwood in an emotional message shared live on the channel on Sunday.

Ken was an instantly recognisable face on 7News throughout the 1970s and 1980s for reporting on AFL and presenting the weather.

In a touching tribute to Ken, Samantha said: ‘Ken spent more than a decade with Seven through the 70s and 80s covering his beloved AFL and hosting numerous programs and events.

‘He also read the winning lotto numbers and presented the weather.’

‘A tribute to Ken’s time at Seven still hands in the hallways of our newsroom,’ she added.

Ken is survived by his wife Pam, their three children and grandchildren.

Fans were quick to take to social media to share their condolences with Ken’s family following the sad news of his death.

They wrote: ‘Sad to hear this! He was a lovely man!’; ‘Very sad for his family and Brisbane TV’; ‘RIP Ken’; ‘Ken was a lovely bloke – a real gentleman.’
