Drew Barrymore appeared to be in good spirits as she left CBS Studios in New York City on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old talk show host was seen smiling as she waved to fans and signed a few autographs.

She was dressed in a stylish white pantsuit with a pinstripe pattern and accessorized with hoop earrings.

The former child star was joined by her regular co-host Ross Matthews, who looked equally as excited to be out and about with the Never Been Kissed actress.

It comes after Drew opened up about her tumultuous career and childhood in a new interview.

Born into Hollywood royalty as the daughter of famed actor John Barrymore, Drew appeared in a dog food commercial at just 11 months old.

And shot to fame at just seven years old as Gertie in the blockbuster E.T.

She quickly turned from beloved child star, though, to troubled teen, entering rehab at just 13 to try and curb her hard-partying ways, and again at 15 after a suicide attempt.

Now the 49-year-old has been sober since 2019.

She revealed in a wide-ranging chat with US Weekly that she allowed herself to change her own narrative.

‘I’ve had a “bad girl” narrative on my back my whole life. I thought I deserved bad things. Now I’m raising two daughters. I can’t do that to myself anymore,’ she said of Olive, 11, and Frankie, 9, who she shares with ex-husband Will Koppelman.

‘Kind of like the drinking — I’m picking off things one at a time, going, “I can’t carry you anymore. You aren’t good for me,”‘ she admitted.

She added that she started drinking when she was just nine years old.

But one day in 2019 she just thought, ‘I’m never going to do this again.’

‘I don’t have cravings. I have alcohol all over my house. I serve people drinks. It’s a confident choice. But it took me 35 years to get there. So, once I got there, I was really done,’ she said.

Still, she said that getting sober was just part of the journey, because she had to, ‘get in touch with why I was drinking like that.’

‘It was my coping mechanism. I loved the way that alcohol emboldened me. The anxiety went away. It makes you feel like an immortal that can handle anything. And then the next day you are living in that chemical aftermath and you feel worse,’ she said.

‘It wasn’t a new concept to me; it was something I knew my whole life did not work for me. I kept saying, “I’ll master this one day.” And sometimes it’s as simple as just getting so sick of yourself wanting to do something for the majority of your life, and one day, it finally clicks,’ Barrymore admitted.

She added that while her personal life has always been a, ‘work in progress,’ the professional in her, ‘feels really brave and never entitled. Always so privileged and grateful. I’ve lost everything. I’ve got it back. I’ve lost it again. Got it back. So I don’t assume anything stays. I know not to take anything for granted.’

‘Whatever difficult times I’ve gone through professionally, I believed I could rewrite things. Then in my personal life, I was a failure and a broken person. I can’t f***ing believe I’m alive sometimes,’ she admitted.
