President Joe Biden joined the world leaders and celebrities sending their best wishes to Catherine, Princess of Wales, after she revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer at age 42 and is undergoing ‘preventative’ chemotherapy.

The Princess of Wales has received messages of love from around the world, including world leaders, members of the clergy and ordinary citizens who sympathize with the young mother.

Friday evening, the president – who has met the princess twice during his term in office – shared his condolences.

‘Jill and I join millions around the world in praying for your full recovery, Princess Kate,’ he wrote on X.

The disease is deeply personal for the Bidens. Their son, Beau Biden, died of brain cancer in 2015.

Jill Biden has co-led the Biden Cancer Initiative with her husband, President Joe Biden, with the goal of ending cancer as we know it.

The First Lady has had friends and one of her sisters battle breast cancer.

She and Catherine met during the G7 summit three years ago at a elementary school in Cornwall. They played with the kids and fed carrots to a giant rabbit in the school garden.

The two women reunited in May 2023, along with Ukraine First Lady Olena Zelenska, during the reception for heads of state at Buckingham Palace after Charles was formally coronated as King.

Biden has often talked about his ‘moonshot’ to cure cancer as part of his agenda in the White House, spurred on by the death of his son Beau to brain cancer in 2018 at the age of 46.

The president himself had skin cancer removed in a procedure done last year.

First Lady Jill Biden shared her own well wishes earlier in the day, writing simply: ‘You are brave, and we love you.’

In a deeply personal, unprecedented and emotional video message, Catherine revealed her diagnosis to the world.

She said the news had come as a ‘huge shock’ and that she and William ‘have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family’.

Speaking from a bench surrounded by daffodils and spring blossom, the future queen said: ‘It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.

‘As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.’

Catherine’s cancer was discovered only after she underwent major abdominal surgery at The London Clinic in January. Kensington Palace has said it will not be sharing details of what kind of cancer the princess has, or what stage of cancer it is and has asked people not to speculate.

The King – who is also currently undergoing cancer treatment himself – and the Queen were both been informed of the news. In a statement tonight His Majesty said he is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’ and remains in the ‘closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law’.

The King and Queen said they ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’.
