A Manhattan skyscraper has registered a fire on its roof, filling the Financial District with smoke on Wednesday.

Images of the luxury skyscraper at 125 Greenwich, which is still under construction, are being shared online as people speculate where the fire is coming from.

‘Is this a fire in lower Manhattan? Or just some building exhaust?’ asked on X user as they shared pictures of the scene.

Social media users reported being able to see the smoke cloud from across the Hudson River in New Jersey. 

The NY Fire Department told DailyMail.com the fire is contained to the HVAC system and they are monitoring the situation. 

The 800-feet residential building, named The Greenwhich by Rafael Viñoly, has 88 stories.
