An ugly row between embattled Liberal MP Taylor Martin and his new wife as she stormed out of their marital home was the subject of a police report, Daily Mail can reveal.

Witnesses have told how a heated altercation erupted between the pair out the front of the home they shared in Terrigal, on the NSW Central Coast, in late January this year.

NSW Upper House MP Taylor Martin’s wife of just eight weeks, Brittany, was seen carrying her three-year-old daughter and rushing to a car parked on the street, where she locked them inside, a witness claimed.

Mr Martin followed and was allegedly heard banging on the windows and doors of the car, shouting and yelling.

A short time later a woman, believed to be Brittany’s mother, arrived and collected both Brittany and the toddler. ‘He was in a rage,’ the witness claimed.

A formal police report was later lodged with the NSW Police Force. Daily Mail understands officers later attended Mr Martin’s address.

However, no charges were laid and the matter did not progress any further. It is also understood that Mr Martin privately disputes suggestions he shouted at Brittany through the window.

NSW Police said in a statement: ‘A report was made to police at Wyong Police Station in February; however, it is of a personal nature and as there are no associated charges.

‘No further information is available.’

On Wednesday, a day after Daily Mail broke the story about the relationship collapse, Mr Martin was seen arriving at NSW State Parliament for the sitting week.

Clutching a coffee cup and without his wedding ring, Mr Martin kept his head down as he made his way down Macquarie Street.

At one point he appeared to duck behind a cleaner to avoid a photographer taking pictures of him.

Mr Martin and his wife were married in a romantic, luxury ceremony at Sydney’s Grounds of Alexandria in December in front of about 110 guests.

At the time, Mr Martin was facing a Liberal Party investigation into him bombarding an ex-lover with ‘ugly and undignified’ text messages.

That story broke after the couple’s engagement.

That investigation is still ongoing some eight months after it was first launched. Mr Martin’s former boss and partner, former federal MP for the Central Coast seat of Robertson Lucy Wicks, claimed Mr Martin verbally abused her over a five year period.

Mr Martin publicly apologised for a series of text messages – leaked to media – that he sent Ms Wicks during that period calling her a ‘dumb s***’ and a ‘f***ing pig’. He vowed to assist with any investigation into the allegations.

He said at the time: ‘I was young and inexperienced and I found myself involved in a situation that was way beyond me. There were heated words during my attempts to go separate ways that I sincerely regret.

‘It was an ugly and undignified parting of ways.’

The relationship between the pair soured in 2019, when Mr Martin was 29 and Ms Wicks was 46. Mr Martin was first employed as a staffer in Ms Wicks’ office when he was 24.

A source close to the former couple said Brittany is now seeking counselling as the mother-of-one navigates the ugly split.

‘I was shocked to hear of the breakdown of the marriage so quickly,’ an insider said.

‘He was lovely to everyone prior to the wedding, he’d even been on holidays with her family.

‘He looked completely in love with Brittany and so happy… it all turned nasty as soon as they were married.’

The wedding came just five months after Mr Martin publicly apologised for past conduct, after his former boss and partner Lucy Wicks lodged a formal complaint accusing him of 'five years of abuse'.

The 32-year-old MP still has pictures from his wedding available on his private social media pages. It is understood he hadn’t informed colleagues of the split.

‘They only got married recently,’ one colleague said, adding they were ‘shocked’ to hear the relationship was all over.

State Opposition Leader Mark Speakman previously said he would not speculate on the young MP’s future until that investigation is concluded.

Mr Martin has been vocal in parliament recent months.

In late November, he campaigned for the introduction of ‘no-contact orders’ as an alternative to apprehended violence orders.

‘I believe the time has come to look at making an option available to people which sits below the seriousness of an apprehended violence order [AVO],’ he said at the time.

‘It is clear that there are people in our community who are not safe to be around once an intimate relationship is brought to an end.

‘A less serious course of action than an AVO, a no‑contact order would be a first port of call that people could easily avail themselves of to serve as formal notice to the other party that the next step will be an AVO should they breach the no‑contact order.

‘I can tell you from experience that applying for an AVO is not a matter to be taken lightly. It is an extremely confronting and triggering experience.’

When Mr Martin made his inaugural parliamentary speech back in 2017, he spoke out against both bullying and domestic violence, explaining how his upbringing was shaped by his own experiences of being picked on in the playground.

‘Domestic violence hits a nerve with just about everyone in our state,’ he said.

‘As we are seeing reported incidents on the rise and more and more people taking a stand, I am certain every family has at least one story to tell close to home.

‘I know I do amongst my friends and family. I will be an advocate amongst young men.

‘We need to ensure that young boys who will become young men get the mentoring needed to teach and emphasise the value of respect in all relationships even if — indeed especially when it is not modelled in their home.’

Mr Martin was elected to the Legislative Council in 2019 and is serving an eight-year term due to expire in 2027. He earns approximately $172,000 per year.
