Supermodel Gigi Hadid’s father has been blasted for comparing Israel to Nazis, after his family reportedly received death threats over their support of Palestine.

Mohamed Hadid, 74, shared a post to his Instagram on Saturday, which has since been deleted, that split the flag of Israel with the flag of the Nazi Party – and added what he considers to be comparisons between the two.

The post read that the Nazi Party had been ‘founded on Aryan supremacy’ while Israel was ‘founded on Jewish supremacy.’

It also compared the Nazi’s ‘signature method’ of the ‘gas chambers’ to Israel’s ‘signature method’ of ‘carpet bombing’.

Mohamed, who was born into a Palestinian family in Nazareth, captioned the post: ‘And both added and labeled the victims as terrorists, regardless of other activities.

‘Some Palestinians and some Jews even changed their names.’

His post comes after the Hadid family reportedly had to change their cell numbers following death threats over their stance on the conflict.

In response, Yaari Cohen from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted: ‘This was posted by Mohamed Hadid, Bella and Gigi Hadid’s father.

‘This is not some shrewd complicated political stance. This is just pure hate. Shame on you.

‘This post: this blatant, crass, Holocaust-esc Anti-Semitism brought it out of me. even in this day and age – there are red lines you don’t cross.’

Another commented: ‘I don’t have words for the cognitive dissonance expressed by Hadid’s meme.

‘Other than to say. One would have to turn their brain into a literal pretzel to even attempt to justify the utter lies in this as anything other than raw anti-Semitism.’

The image also compared the method of the Nazi gas chambers to the bombing of Gaza, and Auschwitz to the Gaza Strip

In response, Yaari Cohen from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affair hit back at Hadid over his now deleted post

The shameful post comes just days after his supermodel daughter Gigi was slammed by Israel’s government for her posts in support of the Palestinian people.

Gigi had posted a graphic about the war, which said: ‘There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians.’

‘Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas.’

Israel’s government quickly skewered Hadid’s position, posting on their Instagram story a response that read: ‘There is nothing valiant about Hamas’ massacre of Israelis.

‘Condemning Hamas for what it is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do.’

The account of the State of Israel then directed comments at Hadid specifically, tagging her account and writing: ‘Have you been sleeping the past week?’

‘Or you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you.’

Gigi hadid also released her own, which does not explicitly condemn Hamas terrorists or antisemitism, and instead defends the Free Palestine movement

In a statement Hadid herself wrote, she does not explicitly condemn the actions of Hamas, nor does she call their terrorism anti-Semitic.

The only mention of the term anti-Semitic occurs when she claims that being pro-Palestine is not the same as being anti-Semitic.

‘The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement,’ she wrote.

Her words, however, run counter to the sentiments shared by many, many pro- Palestinian activists across the country and world since Hamas’ shocking attack.

It has also since been claimed that Gigi and her family have been receiving death threats over their support for Palestine and have reportedly been forced to take action.

Gigi and her family, including supermodel sister Bella, 27, brother Anwar, 24, and parents Yolanda and Mohamed, have all had to change their phone numbers amid the threats, according to TMZ.

Bella was pictured attending a pro-Palestine rally in New York City in May of 2021

Sources told the publication that the family have received horrific threats via email, social media and their phones, after their numbers were reportedly leaked online.

It has also been claimed that real-estate developer Mohamed is considering going to the FBI over the spate of death threats.

Mohamed also has children Marielle, 43, and Alana, 38, with his ex Mary Butler.

Bella Hadid, 27, took to Instagram on Thursday with a detailed statement calling for pressure to be put on political leaders ‘to stand together in defending humanity and compassion’.

She said: ‘I have yet to find the ideal words for this deeply intricate and horrific past two weeks, weeks that have turned the worlds attention back toward a situation that has been taking innocent lives, and affecting families for decades.

The model took to Instagram Thursday with a detailed statement calling for pressure to be put on political leaders to ‘stand together in defending humanity and compassion’

‘I have much to say, but for today, I will keep it short. I’ve been sent hundreds of death threats daily, my phone number has been leaked, and my family has felt to be in danger.

‘But I cannot be silenced any longer. Fear is not an option. The people and children of Palestine, especially in Gaza, cannot afford our silence. We are not brave – they are.’

Bella continued: ‘My father was born in Nazareth in the year of the Nakba (the displacement of 750,000 Palestinians in 1948).

‘Nine days after he was born, he, in his mothers arms, along with his family were expelled from their home in Palestine, becoming refugees, away from a place they once called home. My grandparents, Never being allowed to return.’

Bella said her family has ‘witnessed 75 years of violence against Palestinian people – most notably, brutal settler invasions, which led to the destruction of entire communities, murder in cold blood and the forcible removal of families from their homes.’

The supermodel, who has worked for labels including Balmain, Givenchy, Chanel and Victoria’s Secret, added that ‘the practice of settlements and Palestinian land still continues to this day,’ and ‘the pain of that is unimaginable.’

.com has approached representatives of Gigi and Bella Hadid for comment, as well as their father.
