Phillip Schofield’s daughter has parted company with the talent agency that represented him for more than 30 years following his admission that he had an affair with a much younger colleague and lied about it.

Molly Schofield, 30, had worked at the London-based firm YMU, which also represents the likes of Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall, for at least six years.

She was even at the office when she learned of Phil’s confession that he had enjoyed a romance with the young This Morning runner – and had to be comforted by her colleagues before going home.

But ten months after they ditched Schofield, she has left and has recently been acting as her dad’s publicist after she consoled him following his jaw-dropping admission which he had lied about to even his closest friends.

Sources at YMU said that Leeds Metropolitan University graduate Molly recently came to the end of her employment there and in recent weeks she has been engaging with media about stories relating to Phillip.

One said: ‘Molly was popular at YMU but it was always going to be a little bit awkward working there after what happened.

‘Phillip was part of the furniture there, he was very important and very powerful so things must have changed a lot for her.

‘As recently as three weeks ago she was negotiating with the British media about stories that had been published about her father, acting very much as his PR.’

Molly, who has a younger sister Ruby, 28, has in the past worked with the likes of Christine Lampard and Stacey Solomon.

YMU, which was formerly called James Grant Management, dropped Schofield the day before he admitted to the Mail that he had had the affair and later lied about it. He later stood down from ITV and was dropped by the Princes Trust.

He had previously been with them for 35 years and was said to be ‘hugely involved’ with the running of the company.

Last month, The Mail on Sunday revealed that Schofield had paid the younger man a six-figure sum in return for a non-disclosure agreement which would ban him from talking about their relationship.

In the aftermath of the bombshell revelation, Schofield consulted with his lawyer niece Matilda Graham – the daughter of his wife Stephanie Lowe’s sister – who specialises in Dispute Resolution.

Schofield stepped down from ITV last May after he told the Mail that he had been in the relationship which he described as ‘unwise but not illegal’ as he confessed to lying to his colleagues, his friends and his agents at the management firm YMU.

In the statement, he said: ‘I am making this statement via the Daily Mail, to whom I have already apologised through my lawyer who I also misled, about a story which they wanted to write about me a few days ago. The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on This Morning. I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.

‘Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than a just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.’
