alert-–-girl,-7,-is-killed-by-pothole:-missouri-youngster-was-in-car-that-struck-huge-gouge,-sending-it-across-median-and-into-path-of-another-vehicleAlert – Girl, 7, is killed by POTHOLE: Missouri youngster was in car that struck huge gouge, sending it across median and into path of another vehicle

An 8-year-old Missouri girl died Thursday after she was involved in a car crash that local officials have blamed on a massive pothole.

The crash took place late Monday afternoon when the car Tiler Dildine was riding in slid across a median in Kansas City after the driver overcorrected after hitting the pothole and slammed into a Ford F-150 truck.

Dildine’s family said she’d been hit broadside in the wreck and was immediately hospitalized following the crash, which injured two others, including her mother.

The young girl spent several days on life support but tests were showing no brain activity and she was declared dead Thursday, her aunt told FOX4.

Dildine’s mother, Brittany, remains hospitalized with what may be a broken pelvis and other issues.

A GoFundMe for Brittany says that she has suffered ‘multiple fractures and will have to undergo extensive therapy and due to these circumstances she will not be able work.’

‘Without her income, Brittany is worried about how she will be able to cover her expenses while also taking care of her daughter’s medical needs,’ Jessica Dean wrote on the page, which is aiming to raise $12,000.

The driver of the F-150 was listed as being in critical condition shortly after the wreck.

While the pothole has been blamed for the tragic accident, it has yet to be repaired, with only a set of traffic cones placed around it by the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Officials said that the potholes likely won’t be filled until a water main break can be fixed.

A spokesperson for the city of Kansas City said, however, said that there or no ground pipes or water mains in that area.

The pothole has been a problem for drivers in the region, including Moriah Cox, who fell victim to it just a day prior to the accident that killed Dildine.

‘It was so hard, you know? I’m just surprised my car went over it. I’m surprised I didn’t lose control,’ Cox said.

Both the state DOT and the city claimed to have not heard any complaints about the pothole prior to Monday’s wreck.

‘I called the police,’ Cox claimed, ‘and the police even said ‘Oh, did you call 311 to report this?’ And I’m like ‘Yeah, I did. On Monday morning. However, why are you telling me to call 311?”

‘I understand normal potholes. But this is an issue, and especially because somebody wrecked and people are hurt, you know what I mean?’ she added.

McGee described Dildine as a fun loving child who was being prayed for by her brother.

‘She’s fun. She’s crazy, runs around with non-stop laughing. She has a brother that’s praying for her to be OK,’ McGee said.

Dildine’s aunt says that her niece will be an organ donor.
