Jean Carroll says she is going to buy a ‘new wardrobe and new shoes’ when asked by Rachel Maddow what she will do for women’s rights with $83m won from Trump… to the embarrassment of her lawyer

E Jean Carroll had to be restrained by her lawyer as she gleefully itemized how she plans to spend her $83.3 million defamation award against Donald Trump.

The author had promised to help other victims with her multi-million dollar payout, but had a more worldly wish list as she was quizzed by Rachel Maddow on MSNBC.

‘First thing Rachel, you and I are going to go shopping,’ she said. ‘We’re going to get completely new wardrobes, new shoes, what do you want? Penthouse? It’s yours Rachel!’ ‘That’s a joke,’ laughed lawyer Shawn Crowley nervously, sitting next to her.

The GOP presidential front-runner has insisted he will appeal against Friday’s award which he branded ‘absolutely ridiculous’.

‘They have taken away all First Amendment Rights,’ he wrote on Truth Social, ‘THIS IS NOT AMERICA!’

Carroll’s outburst was met with a scathing response from MAGA supporters.

‘Talk to a real rape victim. They never laugh about anything regarding the rape or the conviction. This is vile @MSNBC,’ one Trump fan wrote.

‘The joke is going to be on her when Trump appeals it and wins,’ wrote another MAGA supporter.

‘We know the trial was a joke and a sham and she’s treating it like it is because she knows she’s a liar and a sham,’ said another.

A Manhattan jury agreed that the former president had defamed the former columnist for Elle Magazine when he called her a ‘whack job’ with a ‘made up story’ after an earlier court found he had sexually assaulted her in a department store dressing room in 1996.

He claimed he had never met her and consistently said she wasn’t his ‘type’.

But the jury concluded that Trump had acted out of ‘hatred, ill will, or spite’ when making public statements denying Carroll’s allegations, including calling them ‘fiction’.

And it ordered him to hand over $7.3 million for ’emotional harm’ to Carroll, $11 million for ‘reputational damages’, and a massive $65 million in ‘punitive damages’.

On Sunday she told ABC’s Good Morning America that she plans to spend the money on ‘something Donald Trump hates’.

‘If it’ll cause him pain for me to give money to certain things, that’s my intent,’ she added suggesting she would create a ‘fund for the women who have been sexually assaulted by Donald Trump’.

And she described him as ‘nothing’ while recalling her first sight of him in the court since the sexual assault nearly 30 years earlier.

‘He is like a walrus snorting, like a rhino flopping his hands, he is not there, that was the surprising thing to me,’ she said.

‘I was terrified, I was just a bag of sweating corpuscles as we prepared for trial, and three or four days before trial I had an actual breakdown,’ she added.

‘I lost my ability to speak and I couldn’t go on that’s how frightened I was.

‘But oddly I looked out and he was nothing.

‘He was a phantom. It was the people around him who were giving him power, he himself was nothing.

‘It was an astonishing discovery for me; we don’t need to be afraid of him.’

Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba was threatened with jail herself during the trial after clashing with judge Lewis Kaplan and said the fact that the judge had worked at the same law firm in the 1990s as Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan, no relation, was an ‘insane conflict of interest’.

‘Don’t get it twisted,’ Habba told reporters outside court.

‘We are seeing a violation of our justice system, ladies and gentlemen.’

The ex-president was reported to have access to $294 million in cash, or cash equivalents, on his most recent annual financial statement, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021.

But a judge’s ruling is expected imminently in his ongoing civil business fraud trial for allegedly misstating the values of his business assets for which prosecutors have demanded a $370 million penalty.

Carroll, 80, was full of praise for her two lawyers as they appeared alongside her yesterday, despite the fact that they had only demanded a third of what the jury awarded.

‘We’ve planted our flag,’ she said.

‘We’ve made a statement that things are going to be different, that there’s going to be a new way of doing things in this country because of this indestructible team of lawyers.

‘I feel this bodes well for the future.’
