‘Real Time’ host Bill Maher hit out at the Democrats for their election strategy, warning that the party can’t take on Donald Trump by simply saying ‘how can they like this guy?’

‘I don’t think it’s a great strategy to run a Democratic campaign based on “how can they like this guy?”‘ Maher told the panelists on his show last night.

‘Some people just do, maybe its better to look at why he is winning’ with certain demographics, he explained to Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff and actor Seth MacFarlane.

‘Maybe there’s a fly in the ointment there,’ the comedian added.

Maher also said the Republican primaries have left him feeling ‘gypped’ after Trump, 77, swept to victory in Iowa and then New Hampshire earlier this week.

‘I’ve covered many primary seasons, and I feel like I’m being gypped this time because it’s not happening this time, its over already,’ Maher said.

‘We don’t even get the audition phase of our reality show that we call an election.

‘I feel I’ve been snubbed as a citizen,’ he added.

‘Trump is winning two blocks that he never won before, Hispanics and people under 35.’

‘Democrats are losing Hispanics to the party of razor wire,’ Maher cautioned, referring to Texas Governor Greg Abbott placing razor wire on the southern border.

Maher’s comments come after the latest polling shows Trump gaining a six-point lead over Biden.

Trump’s lead over the incumbent comes after he has edged Biden in a series of surveys, with both men holding low approval ratings and voters voicing displeasure with both likely nominees.

Trump leads Biden by 40 to 34 percentage points in the new Reuters/Ipsos poll of 1,250 adults.

A sizable remainder is either unsure or plans to vote for someone else, introducing a potential wild card in the race. But Trump’s lead holds even when third party candidates are included.

It comes after Biden hammered Trump over abortion rights during a speech in Virginia this week, and Trump kept blasting Biden as ‘crooked’ even while spending much of his New Hampshire victory speech ripping Republican rival Nikki Haley.

As Trump handily beat his sole remaining primary challenger, Haley in New Hampshire on Tuesday, some 67 per cent of respondents polled Monday through Wednesday said they were ‘tired of seeing the same candidates in presidential elections and want someone new.’ Still, just 18 per cent said they would not vote if Biden and Trump were their choice.

Trump was yesterday ordered to pay E. Jean Carroll a colossal $83.3 million for defamation after he publicly denied sexually abusing her in a department store dressing room in 1996.

The staggering amount was three times what even Carroll’s own lawyers had asked for and was immediately lambasted by Trump as ‘absolutely ridiculous’. He vowed to appeal.

Trump had already left and was on his plane when the stunning verdict was returned, sparking an audible gasp in the Manhattan courtroom.

Jurors had deliberated for less than three hours following a two-week civil trial in which the former president testified for just three minutes.

The case centered on comments Trump made about Carroll in 2019 after she accused him of attacking her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman store in New York nearly three decades ago.

Trump insists he has never met Carroll, 80, an Elle magazine advice columnist.

He has consistently said she wasn’t his ‘type’ and has described the court case as a ‘witch hunt’ and ‘election interference’.

However, the jury of seven men and two women ordered him to hand over $7.3 million for ’emotional harm’ to Carroll and $11 million for ‘reputational damages’.

Trump was also ordered to pay a massive $65 million in ‘punitive damages.’

The jury concluded that Trump had acted out of ‘hatred, ill will, or spite’ when making public statements denying Carroll’s allegations, including calling them ‘fiction’. He made those comments in 2019 when he was president.
