Police are seeking a man for questioning in relation to separate attacks on a taxi driver and a food delivery driver.

Images of a man police wish to speak to were released on Saturday after the stabbing incidents on Friday night in Redfern, Sydney.

The photos show a man in his 20s wearing dark shorts, white sneakers with blue detailing and a dark cap with white writing.

The two victims were stabbed within a kilometre of each other and neither is believed to have known their attacker.

They were rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital in stable conditions. The food delivery driver has since been discharged and the taxi driver is expected to be released from hospital on Sunday.

A 38-year-old man was sitting in his taxi at the intersection of Walker and James street when a random man opened his passenger door and attacked him at 11pm, police said.

‘He’s then got out of the taxi and ran from the area,’ Detective Acting Superintendent Dean Johnstone said.

‘The taxi driver has indicated to us that it was a rather horrific ordeal that he had to go through.’

The man’s hand and the left side of his chest were injured in the attack.

An hour-and-a-half later officers were called to Morehead Street after reports that a food delivery driver had been assaulted by a man who came out of an apartment building.

‘In dealing with that victim, it was ascertained he had also received a number of stab wounds to the back,’ Superintendent Johnstone said.

‘It is believed the person involved in these stabbings is the same person.

‘It is very terrifying and it’s very concerning to us, these two gentlemen were actually performing work-related functions at the time of these attacks.

‘These are two members of our community who have gone out there and are doing their job.’

Police believe that the suspect may live or be staying around the area of the attacks.

No motive has been identified as the cause of the stabbings and police have said that they do not believe that any demands were made for property.

Detectives will interview both victims as part of the investigation.

It is not believed that either victim knew the alleged attacker and police believe that he may live in proximity of the area where the two men were attacked (pictured, a man wish to speak to in relation to the attacks)
