The wife of Laser Clinics co-founder Alistair Champion has addressed rumours they have quietly broken up after they returned to Sydney following a year-long sojourn in Paris with their two children.

Alarm bells started ringing this week when socialite Kate Champion took to social media to announce she was offloading her designer wardrobe at a discounted rate, accompanying the post with a series of scantily clad selfies modelling her clothes.

It followed months of rumours about the state of the Champions’ marriage and, for many of their well-connected friends, seemingly confirmed the speculation.

Sources close to the couple were convinced they had become increasingly distant lately and were spending more and more time apart.

However, when approached for comment on Wednesday, a surprised Ms Champion said there was absolutely no truth to the scurrilous gossip.

‘I’m sitting with my husband right now,’ she said.

When asked where she believed the rumour came from, Ms Champion simply laughed and said: ‘It’s just Sydney people being d**kheads.’

‘I keep my head down. I don’t buy into gossip,’ she added.

Ms Champion’s designer ‘fire sale’ included items from Valentino, Céline, Chanel, Gucci and Dior, all being sold for low prices.

She said of the discount sale: ‘I believe in giving back and these are pieces that I have cherished and I want other people to get the same love.

‘I want to move quickly because I am very busy and I really cant stand fast fashion and I want to set an example for people to buy well.’
