alert-–-popular-fitness-influencer-steph-claire-smith-reveals-why-weight-loss-challenges-that-are-so-popular-at-this-time-of-year-are-destined-to-failAlert – Popular fitness influencer Steph Claire Smith reveals why weight loss challenges that are so popular at this time of year are destined to fail

A popular fitness influencer says New Year’s Resolutions around weight loss and exercise are destined to fail because people set their goals too high.

Speaking on her Keep it Cleaner podcast, Steph Claire Smith said less than 10 per cent of people successfully succeed in sticking to them.

‘I did some research and on average only seven per cent of people complete their resolutions. That means 93 per cent of people don’t,’ she explained.

‘Most resolutions are like “I’m going to stop eating junk food” or “I’m going to exercise”. But you should be more specific and think through why you are doing it.’

Steph said people can increase their chances of achieving their resolutions by developing small and manageable steps they can slowly work towards.

‘A lot of these challenges are built on a mindset of achieving more. It’s about setting habits that you can sustain,’ she explained.

‘There was one fitness challenge where you had to do two workouts a day for eight weeks. I had friends who did it and they were feeling faint. That’s not sustainable, you are never going to do that.’

She added that people needed to be kinder to themselves by allowing some leeway when it comes to challenges such as losing weight in the new year.

She concluded by saying that as long as people make small progress towards their goals each week, then they are working towards achieving their resolutions and should be happy.

Last month, Steph revealed the unlikely perks of cutting off her long hair into a bob.

She lobbed off her trademark blonde mane for the first time in her adult life last week, following in the footsteps of fellow n influencers Tammy Hembrow, Ella Ding and Melissa Leong.

She reflected on her new ‘do during an episode of her podcast, telling her co-host Laura Henshaw that shorter hair has helped her sex life with husband Josh Miller.

Steph, who has been in a relationship with Josh for almost 12 years, said their time in the bedroom has improved because she ‘feels a little bit different’ with her new look.

She is best known for being the face of her multimillion-dollar fitness empire Keep It Cleaner.

She married Josh Miller in 2019 and they have one child, son Harvey, born in 2021.
