A woman whose body was found in a house fire has been identified as a mother of two young children, with loved ones remembering her as a ‘kind and beautiful soul.’

Alison Robinson was found dead inside a property on Sanders Street in Glenorchy  north of Hobart on Friday after emergency services were alerted to a house fire around 7am. 

The 39-year-old mother of two boys aged just 10 and 13 was allegedly murdered by 40-year-old man David George Evans, who is alleged to have set fire to the property. 

Ms Robinson’s older sister Nicole told Daily Mail the family is reeling following the death of her younger sibling. 

‘It’s been a big shock for us all… we’re just coming to terms with it [Alison’s death].’ she said.

Nicole described Ms Robinson as a ‘colourful’ person who always tried to help others in need by buying groceries and even giving them money to fill up their cars with petrol. 

‘[She was] kind, creative…she was very creative… she was always doing art and craft and painting. 

‘She always tried to help whenever she could…she was a community person and she cared about everybody, especially people with children.’

Just hours before she was allegedly murdered, Ms Robinson shared a post on Facebook, writing: ‘It’s 2024, I’m 39 years young and I still have so many unanswered questions!!!!’ 

Nicole said the tight-knit community of Glenorchy had been left devastated by Ms Robinson’s death. 

‘Everybody knew Alison and she’s [left] a big hole in a lot of people’s lives…’ she said. 

‘Everybody’s very upset, especially with the way that she’s gone.’

Dozens of heartbroken locals paid tribute to the 39-year-old on Facebook. 

‘Gonna miss u darlin,’ one person wrote. 

‘Rip my beautiful friend…I’m gunna miss u so much sending my thoughts and prayers to the family and ur (sic) 2 beautiful boys,’ another said. 

‘Fly high Ali.’

Evans, of New Town, was charged with murder on Sunday evening after he was taken into custody on Friday at 1.45pm. 

He was also charged with arson, stealing a motor vehicle and unlawfully setting fire to a property. 

He fronted the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday and did not enter a plea or apply for bail.

He is being held in custody and will face court again on February 1. 

Tasmania police are still investigating the incident and have appealed for information about a person they want to question as part of their investigations. 

The person was wearing dark clothing, carrying a dark backpack and was riding a light-coloured mountain bike between Park Street and Pirie Street in Hobart’s north, not far from the scene of the incident.
