Aubrey Huff has hit out at his critics on his return to social media, claiming ‘there’s no crime for a single dude DM’ing a broad,’ after a 23-year-old conservative Christian influencer exposed his flirty message online on Christmas Day.

The 47-year-old, former Rays, Astros, Orioles, Tigers and Giants first baseman and designated hitter explained his reason for deleting his X account in a series of tweets to some users claiming he went into hiding after being called out by Isabella Maria DeLuca.

‘I was on vacation with my kids,’ Huff wrote in response to a user who said he ‘f***ed up’ by deleting his account. ‘Knew it would distract me [from] that kind of heat. So I waited till I got home and the boys went to their moms. So here I am. Imagine a guy more concerned about his kids rather than his social media credibility. The horror.!!!’

Huff shares two sons, Jayce, 15, and Jagger, 13, with his ex-wife, Barbara Heaton. The former couple were married for 10 years from 2007 to 2017.

Huff also addressed those ‘passing judgment’ about the situation after recovering his account on X.

‘It’s called Google,’ he tweeted. ‘Famous people like myself aren’t hard to find. If you figure out how to use the internet you’ll find I’ve been divorced for 6 years. Last I checked, there’s no crime for a single dude DM’ing a broad.’

Huff further made his point in a separate post, reminding his followers that you ‘miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take’ in life.

‘Was it even bad!?’ he asked in another tweet. ‘So what, I struck out publicly. Something I did 907 times on a national stage during my 13 year @MLB career.

‘If anything @IsabellaMDeLuca struck out with the bases load to end game 7 of her World Series! Not to many get a shot at the title.’

Huff and DeLuca have blocked each other since she called him out over the Holidays as they both shared separate screenshots of avoiding interaction with one another online recently.

‘My how the table have turned,’ he wrote. ‘This was truly all in good fun for me. Too bad she didn’t see it that way. Some people just take things way too seriously. It’s really a shame people can’t have more fun on this platform.’

Huff claimed he only felt embarrassed due to not having done his own due diligence on DeLuca before reaching out.

‘Only thing I’m embarrassed for is the lack of homework,’ he tweeted in a separate post. ‘But hey, we strike out sometime. All we can do is step back in the box. Trust me, it’s really hard to embarrass me.’

When another user on X suggested that DeLuca may have not been Huff’s type, he disagreed.

‘Oh I’m her type…I’m every woman’s type,’ he replied.

DeLuca wrongly implied that Huff was a married man when he slid into her DMs on X with a message that read: ‘Hey beautiful let’s Colab over cocktails and bad decisions,’ with a winking face emoji.

DeLuca took a screenshot of the message sent from Huff’s official X account before sharing it on the platform on December 25. She claimed Huff flirted with her after he tagged her in a negative post about her.

‘[It’s] proof that most today’s women even know… their sexuality is all they bring to the table,’ Huff wrote, according to screenshots on X. ‘Complete with a desperate need for attention, crippling debt, drama, delusional self worth, & a complete lack of accountability.’

When asked if ever got to ‘shoot his shot’ with DeLuca, Huff replied: ‘I’ve been down the slide into some DM’s for sure. Who hasn’t? I say I’m batting .500 in my lifetime. I struck out on that one. But by the looks of it, it’s a strike out I’ll take all day.’

Huff played 13 MLB seasons from 2000 to 2012 and retired in 2014. Since then, he’s been vocal about politics on social media. He was once banned from X for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and his comments on the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack.
