Sydneysiders have marked the start of 2024 with a very early morning dip at the city’s most iconic beach after a night of wild celebrations.

Revellers flocked to Bondi Beach on Monday morning to watch the first sunrise of 2024 after the city rung in the new year with a fireworks display on Sydney Harbour at midnight.

The shore was packed with people as some continued their night of celebrations by dancing on the sand while others relaxed as they soaked in the first light.

Enthusiastic beachgoers also stripped down to their underwear and made a dash across the famous golden sand, before bracing the icy water.

Dozens of brave partygoers chose to dive into the waves despite temperatures at Bondi Beach staying at 18C throughout the morning.

Despite the chilly weather, many walked out of the water with smiles on their faces.
