Erin Patterson’s two-storey home has been broken into by thieves as the accused mushroom chef spends Christmas alone behind bars.

The alleged thieves were caught on CCTV entering the property in Leongatha, in Victoria’s Gippsland region, on Christmas Day.

They are accused of stealing a car, a TV and vacuum cleaners and removing CCTV cameras from the home – which has been broken into three times in the last month.

Patterson’s friend shared a photo of one of the alleged vandals on social media.

A man is seen standing on the property’s porch wearing a black hoodie, cap and a mask that covers his nose and mouth.

‘We have had a friend’s house broken into in Leongatha three times over the last month or so, last time being Christmas morning,’ the friend said.

‘This time they stole a car, TVs, vacuums. I have finally been able to retrieve CCTV footage from the second time they broke into the property and removed all the outside cameras.

‘Police caught a couple of offenders from the first burglary where they stole a heap of things and we are now thinking they took all spare keys, car keys etc and were not retrieved by the police at the time.

‘They have obviously passed the keys on to mates to come and go from the house as they please.’

It’s unclear whether any of the mushroom chef’s friends or family have been staying in the home while she’s behind bars.

Patterson, 49, is currently being housed in the protection wing of the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in Melbourne’s western industrial suburbs.

She was one of 40,600 inmates spending Christmas in 116 prisons around .

The mother-of-two has been charged with three counts of murder after her former parents-in-law Don and Gail Patterson, both 70, and Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson, 66, died after eating a beef Wellington pie at a family meal on July 29.

Patterson has also been charged with five counts of attempted murder, which relate to the sole survivor of the lunch – Heather’s husband Ian, 68 – and four alleged attempts to kill her ex-husband, Simon Patterson.

The accused mushroom chef is a world away from the home she lovingly built but which was the scene of the beef wellington pie lunch.

This will likely be the first Christmas she cannot see her children, who are aged in their early teens.

Patterson can receive visits from friends or her children, but not on Christmas Day when the state’s public prisons are closed to visitors.

The kids will have to visit on other days during the holidays, although it is unclear who would accompany the young teens into the jail at Deer Park.

Patterson was arrested at her home on November 2 before specialist teams with sniffer dogs carried out a search of her home in Leongatha, where the alleged deadly lunch took place almost five months ago.

She was then taken to Wonthaggi police station, where she was later charged and spent the night in a cell before appearing at LaTrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutors requested a 20-week delay before her next appearance so computer equipment seized from her home could be analysed.

Patterson made no attempt at bail, but her lawyer, Ben Doogue, is expected to make an application in coming weeks.

She is next due before the court on May 3, and is expected to appear via video link.

Patterson has not entered a plea to any charge and Daily Mail does not suggest she is guilty, but is simply on remand.
