Wisconsin Democrats wasted no time cashing in on the biggest story rocking pop culture today – Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement.
Hours after the power couple announced their engagement, Wisconsin state Senate Democrats sent out a fundraising email begging for money, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported.
The Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee told donors ‘THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!’ and begged supporters to send them money in order to honor the celebrity lovers.
‘In a time when we are being bombarded with negative news, we welcome this moment of celebration. You know what will make this day even better?’ the email reads.
‘If we got a step closer to FLIPPING the Wisconsin State Senate blue for the first time in a decade.’
The email asks, ‘Will you join us in celebrating this moment by rushing $20.26 today and help Taylor’s party win next November?’
The swing-state committee then misquotes the lyrics from Swift’s 2010 song ‘Long Live’ by writing, ‘long live the walls we crash through,’ instead of ‘long live the walls we crashed through.’
Swift’s engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver was announced on the star’s Instagram page with photos of the couple surrounded by flowers.
During the last two presidential elections, Swift endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 and Kamala Harris in 2024.
‘I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,’ Swift wrote to her Instagram followers back in September. ‘I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.’
The Pennsylvania-born star has never expressed interest in Wisconsin Democratic politics.
Trump has criticized Swift over the last month, claiming she is ‘no longer hot’ and claimed he hated the pop star after she endorsed Harris last year.
However, Trump changed his tune slightly following the announcement of the engagement by congratulating the couple.
During a Wednesday White House cabinet meeting, a reporter asked the president for his thoughts on the shocking news.
‘Well I wish them a lot of luck’, Trump told the White House press.
‘I think he’s a great player and a great guy and I think she’s a terrific person so I wish them a lot of luck.’
