alert-–-shock-discovery-in-aussie-backyard-divides-opinion-as-neighbour-lashes-out:-‘what-the-hell?’Alert – Shock discovery in Aussie backyard divides opinion as neighbour lashes out: ‘What the hell?’

A homeowner has shared his shock after discovering his neighbour had been directing his rainwater into their own tank.

The Aussie explained he had been visiting his beach house when he noticed something peculiar at the fence in the backyard.

He shared a video showing a downpipe had been connected to the gutter on his roof.

‘That downpipe is going to a bloody tank of the neighbour at the back,’ he said in astonishment.

Footage showed the white pipe connecting to a huge green water tank that had been set up in the neighbour’s backyard.

‘I didn’t put it there,’ the homeowner said.

‘They’ve literally put a tank here, connected it to my gutter to collect water. What the hell? Can they just do that?’

The homeowner explained that he had previously removed it so he could connect the gutter to a smaller rain tank on his own property.

‘At some point, they disconnected it, and reconnected it back to their tank,’ he said.

The homeowner explained the neighbouring property appeared to be a holiday house, and he had hardly seen them.

‘When I’m not here, then they’re there,’ he said. ‘Then they go and do this s***.’

The homeowner explained he intended to remove the downpipe to see ‘what happens’.

Social media users were left divided, with some arguing the homeowner should just let his neighbour use the water.

‘If you’re not using the water, why not let someone else use it?’ one asked.

A second added: ‘What’s the problem? Seriously.’

‘This is not an issue,’ a third added. ‘You’re not using the water. At least it’s going somewhere it is being used.’

Others sided with the homeowner, claiming the neighbour had overstepped.

‘It’s your rainwater,’ one said.

‘Change it, so it still looks like it’s going to theirs, but it’s actually going to yours,’ another added.
