Jimmy Kimmel genuinely feared he was going to be charged with ‘murder’ after his famous frenemy Matt Damon once choked on a pork rib while dining at his $7.8M Windsor Square LA home.
The 57-year-old comedian and the 54-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter have been embroiled in a satirical public feud for the past 20 years.
‘He came late, was very hungry, and started eating fast. He started choking on a pork rib,’ Jimmy recalled to Variety on Monday.
‘It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half. His brother [Kyle] was there. I said, “We have got to get him to the hospital,” because if he dies in my house, I’m going to prison for the rest of my life. I will never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder.’
After searching for a DIY resolution online, the concerned group decided to feed Matt ‘little bits of bread’ in order ‘to get that rib to work its way down into his stomach.’
‘Bread saved him,’ Kimmel declared. ‘We tried the Heimlich [maneuver] many times. It was too far down.’

The faux animosity originated in 2005 when the three-time Emmy winner ended his ABC late-night show by joking ‘Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time’ despite never booking nor meeting Damon.
By 2007, Jimmy enlisted his then girlfriend Sarah Silverman to perform a parody song all about the Cambridge-born action star titled ‘I’m F***king Matt Damon,’ which further fueled their so-called feud.
Matt has trash-talked Kimmel on red carpets, stowed away in his BFF Ben Affleck’s comically-oversized coat to sneak on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and even pretended to hold him hostage in 2013.

But Jimmy announced via billboard at Santa Monica and La Cienega that he will be submitting his Emmy vote for his beleaguered Strike Force Five colleague, Stephen Colbert, whose Late Show was recently canceled.
‘I think it will be a nice statement if he does win. Obviously, awards don’t mean much, but every once in a while they do, and in this case, I think it will. So I fully expect Stephen to win the Emmy as I think people are very, very upset about what happened to him and his show,’ Kimmel told Variety.
‘I just want to say that the idea that Stephen Colbert’s show was losing $40M a year is beyond nonsensical. These alleged insiders who supposedly analyze the budgets of the shows — I don’t know who they are, but I do know they don’t know what they’re talking about.
‘They seem to only be focused on advertising revenue and have completely forgotten about affiliate fees, which number in the hundreds of millions — probably in total billions — and you must allocate a certain percentage of those fees to late-night shows.’
The Rabbit Hole producer-host continued: ‘I will tell you, the first 10 years I did the show, they claimed we weren’t making any money — and we had five times as many viewers on ABC as we do now. Who knows what’s true? All I know is they keep paying us — and that’s kind of all you need to know.’
Jimmy has been on his fifth annual summer break since June 20, but he’s expected to resume hosting duties on Jimmy Kimmel Live on September 2.

Meanwhile, Matt co-produced Bill Condon’s $30M-budget remake of West End musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring his BFF Ben Affleck’s second ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, which hits US theaters October 10.
Audience can next catch Damon and Affleck playing Miami cops in Joe Carnahan’s crime drama The Rip, which premieres January 16 on Netflix.
