A collection of unseen files in the investigation into the University of Idaho murders have been released after Bryan Kohberger was given four life sentences for stabbing four students.
The stoned-faced 30-year-old refused to reveal his motive when given the chance to speak on Wednesday as a judge confirmed he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The former PhD student spoke just three words during the extraordinary sentencing hearing, as anguished family members branded him ‘basic,’ ‘pathetic,’ and ‘evil.’
Judge Steven Hippler handed down four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the brutal murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin.
Alivea Goncalves, Kaylee’s older sister, tore into Kohberger during her emotional victim impact statement. Ordering him to ‘sit up straight’ as she spoke, she called him a ‘delusional, pathetic, hypochondriac loser.’
Surviving roommate Dylan Mortensen broke down in tears as she faced the killer, calling him ‘less than human’ and a ‘hollow vessel.’
A statement read on behalf of Bethany Funke, the second survivor, described the massacre as the ‘worst day’ of her life.
Kohberger remained impassive throughout, occasionally smirking and nodding slightly as grieving relatives unleashed their fury over his depraved actions.

Investigators deny claims Bryan Kohberger met victim at Greek restaurant
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Moscow Police Corporal Brett Payne told reporters that there is no evidence to prove Bryan Kohberger met victim Maddie Mogen at a restaurant where she worked.
Internet sleuths have alleged that Kohberger visited the restaurant where Maddie worked as a waitress, Mad Greek, a 40-seat establishment with a vegan-friendly menu.
However, Payne shut down that theory at a press conference on Wednesday while insisting that there is no evidence to show a connection between Kohberger and his victims.
'I can't say that he was never there at all, but we never found any evidence at all from interviewing everybody that we possibly could, talking to every person that would have that information to be able to show that he was there or that there was a connection through the restaurant,' he said.
Prosecutor says Kohberger was NOT 'serial killer in waiting'
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said there was no evidence to suggest that Bryan Kohberger would have become a serial killer.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Thompson explained that sealed court documents show Kohberger did not have a criminal history or history of violence.
'So if there are any concerns among your listeners or readers that somehow he was a “serial killer in waiting” with all these prior actions, we are not aware of any behaviors like that that preceded what happened here in Idaho,' he said.

They were escorted from the courtroom by police after and did not make any statement.
'Proberger' supporter: There are no facts to tell me he's guilty
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
From Daily Mail's Laura Collins
For the families and friends of his victims and for all affected by his heinous crimes today’s sentencing of Bryan Kohberger marks the just end to two and a half painful years.
But for a handful of people who came to Ada County Courthouse to witness the 30-year-old’s sentencing today this was just the beginning of the long march to 'justice.'
Sue Kopinski, 61, from Ogden, Utah is a proud ‘Proberger’ – someone who believes Kohberger is innocent, was framed and is the victim of corruption which, the way she sees it, extends from the Universities of Washington and Idaho to Moscow Police Department, Idaho State Police and the FBI,
Speaking to the Daily Mail after Kohberger’s sentencing Kopinski said, 'I just haven’t seen any facts to tell me he’s guilty.'
The surveillance footage that captured his car circling 1122 King Road in the early hours of November 13, 2022, the cell-phone pings that put him in its vicinity a dozen times between August and November that year, or that place him on the road from Moscow back to his home in Pullman on the night of the killings and, crucially, the DNA that ties him to the knife sheath found at the scene don’t count to Kopinski and her fellow believers.
There were at least two other 'Probergers' in court today.
She said, 'What has happened is horrific but when I started seeing all the holes and the evidence that the prosecution has withheld…they took it straight to the Grand Jury, they hid evidence.'
Kopinksi, who became interested in crime when she started following the Lori Vallow Daybell, or 'cult mom,' trial in 2023 has little – nothing really – to back up her talk of 'inconsistencies,' assertion that there are 'missing' minutes from the prosecution’s timeline or suggestion that the prosecution has hidden or erased evidence.
She considers Kohberger’s acceptance of a plea deal – taking four life sentences over the death penalty – as some sort of elaborate defense strategy to get the case 'away' from Judge Steven Hippler and prosecutor Bill Thompson who is set to retire.
She said, 'I do believe they will appeal.'
When it is pointed out that Kohberger has waived his right to appeal and that, while he can technically file a notice of appeal Judge Hippler informed the defendant that if he does it could be viewed as a breach of his plea deal, Kopinksi was undeterred.
She said, 'He will file an appeal. Mark my words. And he will get it.'
Investigators believe they would have caught Kohberger without knife sheath
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Idaho police believe they would have identified Bryan Kohberger as their culprit even if they did not have the knife sheath left at the scene.
'We've talked about this ad nauseum,' Moscow Police Corporal Brett Payne said at a press conference on Wednesday.
'The answer is yes, through the car most likely. We had some amazing people going truly line by line over tens of thousands of white Hyundai Elantras, so we believe we would've gotten to it through that avenue. The time frame for that is uncertain. It could've been a week later, it could've been two months later, we just don't know. We would've found it.'
A Ka-Bar brown leather knife sheath, featuring a US Marine Corps seal, was found next to Maddie Mogen's body in her bedroom on the third floor.
Touch DNA on the sheath was later found to be a statistical match to Kohberger, according to prosecutors. The murder weapon has never been found.
Kohberger's Amazon shopping history revealed he purchased a Ka-Bar knife, sheath and sharpener in March 2022.
Police say Kohberger 'shut down' during initial interview
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Idaho police explained at a press conference on Wednesday that Bryan Kohberger shut down during his first interview with them after his arrest in Pennsylvania.
'When we spoke to Mr. Kohberger, we kept it pretty surface level to begin with. The idea being: Get him to speak and keep him speaking,' Moscow Police Corporal Brett Payne said.
'It was pretty surface level. And then, when we tried to get into things [with] more detail, he decided to end the interview.'
Idaho State Police Lt. Darren Gilbertson said that once Idaho detectives started to explain why they were in Pennsylvania, 'That's when he really started to shut down, and then they just shut it down.'
They also described Kohberger's demeanor as 'calm, 'relaxed' and very similar to how he appeared in court.

Speaking at Kohberger's sentencing in Boise, Idaho, Alivea ordered the quadruple murderer to 'sit up straight when I talk to you'.
Watching him intently, Alivea said: 'I wont' stand here and give you what you want. I won't give you tears. Instead, I will call you what you are: sociopath, psychopath, murderer.
'The truth is you’re basic. You're a textbook case of insecurity disguised as control. You spent months preparing, and still, all it took was my sister and a sheath.'
Alivea told Kohberger he was a ‘delusional, pathetic, hypochondriadic loser' who 'thought you were so much better than everyone else.'

Investigators say there is no connection between Kohberger and the victims
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com

He explained that they examined social media connections, but found nothing.
'We had every resource possible and we worked that tirelessly,' he said.
Officials confirm Pappa Rodger social media account does NOT belong to Kohberger
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Investigators confirmed that Bryan Kohberger was not behind the Pappa Rodger social media account.
An online account named Pappa Rodger posted chillingly accurate speculations about the crimes in many groups, leading many sleuths to believe Kohberger used the account to weigh in on his own crimes on social media.
However, officials confirmed that the account did not belong to Kohberger after he was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murders.
'There was no connection, there wasn't at all. We looked into every bit of it. We took a deep dive into it, we researched it, it was not,' FBI agent Brett Grover said.

Prosecutor acknowledges some victims' families disagree with plea deals, says 'not a popularity contest'
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson addressed concerns that some of the Idaho murder victims' families disagree with the plea deal.
'We have reached the conclusion of the judicial process and we believe we have achieved accountability and finality for everyone who suffered,' Thompson said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He pointed out that under the plea deal, there was no change or downgrading of the charges.
'He also received a life and death sentence… He will remain there until he dies,' Thompson said.
Thompson said he did 'not make a decision' on plea deal 'in a vacuum.'
'We accept and recognize that not everybody agrees with the decision we made, but this is not a popularity contest,' he said.
Thompson agreed with the judge that Kohberger speaking about motive wouldn't bring answers.
'It would give him power to control the dialogue… We can't allow that to happen,' he said.

After the murders, for weeks, the killer was unknown.
Then, because of Kohberger's own mistakes and good police work, Kohberger was 'unmasked.'
'The person that slithered through that sliding door at 1122 King Road now stands before the world and court unmasked,' Hippler said.
Choking up, the judge paid tribute to the surviving roommates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke and how 'courageous they have been despite the hell they have faced from uncaring theories about kids simply being kids.'

He showed one photo of the victims taken the day before they were murdered.
'You can see all six of these dynamic, vibrant, loving, innocent faces – taken together just across the street from their residence barely 12 hours before four of them would be brutally murdered in their sleep,' Thompson said.
Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson details how Kohberger plea agreement came about
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
After the victim impact statements concluded, Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson thanked the court for its rulings 'based on the law and fact' and criticized the defense for its numerous motions filed over the almost three years of proceedings.
On June 18, Kohberger's final motions were argued before the court – to delay the trial and to be able to accuse others of being alternate suspects.
'The following week, we were approached by the defense on a possible plea,' he said.
This was the first mention of a possible plea as the defense 'maintained from the beginning that he was innocent.'
Thompson said his office met with the victims' families about the potential of a plea deal.
'We understand, recognise and acknowledge that there was a difference of opinion among representatives of the different families,' he said.
His office decided to take the plea deal, but accepts that not everyone supported his decision.
'I accept that. It's my responsibility,' he said.

Disturbing reason Bryan Kohberger is glaring at Idaho victims families like a 'FASCINATED HAWK'
Bryan Kohberger stared coldly at the families of his victims and even appeared 'relaxed' as they shared their grief at his sentencing on Wednesday, a body language expert says.
The quadruple killer sat in an orange jumpsuit and was the only person in the courtroom unmoved by harrowing victim impact statements.
'The raw grief and distress displayed by the relatives of the victims was an impossible watch for almost everyone in the courtroom, apart from, emphatically and remarkably, Kohnberger,' body language expert Judy James told Daily Mail.
'Sitting looking relaxed in his chair with his elbows splayed out on the arm of the chair in a gesture of confidence and desired visibility, the opposite body language ritual of a desire to hide, which would include crossed arms, self-diminishing behaviors and eye cut-offs, he appeared to listen with what looked like a detached but forensic interest.
'Kohberger's eyes watched the relatives like a fascinated hawk. His eyes appeared to soak up every sob and every signal of distress.'

'When you murdered my daughter Kaylee Jade Goncalves you didn't just take her life… you left a trail of devastation far beyond that house.
'I live with constant ache of birthdays that are now memorials. I am forever changed,' she began.
She then ripped into Kohberger as he sat and listened without expression.
'But for you as a person? You’re not that good. In fact, you’re not that good at anything… you couldn’t even get a female to look in your direction,' she said.
'You’re now a joke in this courtroom.'
Said she was disappointed that he wouldn’t face the firing squad but warned that his ‘fellow inmates are anxiously awaiting your arrival.’
‘But it’s okay because they're there to help you'. This statement was what Bryan Kohberger allegedly was heard saying to Xana Kernodle before he murdered her.

‘The truth about Kaylee and Maddie is that they would have been kind to you…. In a world that rejected you, they would have shown mercy,' Kaylee Goncalves' sister Alivea began as she spoke to Bryan Kohberger directly.
Kohberger watched Alivea intently, showing no emotion or flicker of expression.
'I wont stand her and give you what you want, I won't give you tears… instead I will call you what you are: sociopath, psychopath, murderer,' she declared.
Loudly, she told him: ‘sit up straight when I talk to you.’
She then hit him with the very same questions that Kohberger posed in a survey on Reddit as part of his criminology degree at DeSales University.
She went on to blast Kohberger's past and all his failings, including unanswered questions in the Idaho murder case.
Alivea told Kohberger he was a ‘delusional, pathetic, hypochondriadic loser' who 'thought you were so much better than everyone else.'
'The truth is you’re basic,' she continued. 'You're a textbook case as insecurity disguised as control. You spent months preparing and still all it took was my sister and a sheath.'
‘You’re as dumb as they come. Stupid, dumb… weak, dirty.'
In a damning conclusion, she told Kohberger: 'If you hadn't attacked them in your sleep like a pedophile, Kaylee would have kicked your f****** a**.'
The courtroom erupted in clapping at the end of Alivea’s statement.

He was dressed in all black, wearing a mask and with bushy eyebrows.
She had no idea that this intruder had just murdered her four friends.

'I not only lost some of my best friends but I also lost a sister.'

The maximum security prison where Bryan Kohberger is likely to die after he escaped death penalty with guilty plea
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Bryan Kohberger will likely spend the remainder of his days inside Idaho Maximum Security Institution after he pleaded guilty to four counts of murder.
The criminology PhD student struck a deal with prosecutors in which he admitted to killing Ethan Chapin, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21, in their home as they slept in November 2022.
The deal ensures he avoids the death penalty, and will instead spend the rest of his life in prison without any opportunity for parole or to appeal the punishment.
He is likely to be transferred out of maximum security at Ada County jail and into Idaho Maximum Security Institution after his sentencing hearing on July 23.

Donald Trump intervened in Bryan Kohberger case
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
Donald Trump weighed in on the Idaho murders case on Monday and said that quadruple killer Bryan Kohberger should be forced to explain why he committed the atrocities.
Trump demanded that the judge require Kohberger to give an explanation for his heinous crimes during his sentencing hearing on Wednesday after taking the plea deal.
'Bryan Kohberger, who was responsible, in Idaho, for the deaths of four wonderful young souls, has made a plea bargain deal in order to avoid the Death Penalty. These were vicious murders, with so many questions left unanswered,' the president said on Truth Social Monday.
'While Life Imprisonment is tough, it's certainly better than receiving the Death Penalty but, before Sentencing, I hope the Judge makes Kohberger, at a minimum, explain why he did these horrible murders.
'There are no explanations, there is no NOTHING. People were shocked that he was able to plea bargain, but the Judge should make him explain what happened. Thank you for your attention to this matter!'

As Bryan Kohberger is sentenced – listen to Daily Mail's hit new podcast On The Case: The Idaho Murders for a deep dive into all the questions that remain unanswered.
Early in the morning of November 13, 2022, four University of Idaho students were found brutally stabbed to death in their off-campus rental home in Moscow, Idaho.
The victims were Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. Maddie and Kaylee, both asleep in Maddie’s bed, were killed first.
It was just after 4am but Xana was still up having ordered a food delivery; he stabbed her next before moving onto kill Ethan where he slept.
There were no signs of forced entry – the lock of the door he slipped through was broken – and two other roommates inside the house survived.
The four harrowing words Bryan Kohberger said to cops after his arrest in midnight raid
It was the middle of the night when armed officers stormed the quiet Pennsylvania home of Bryan Kohberger, the criminology student who pled guilty to killing four University of Idaho students in one of the most chilling murder cases in recent memory.
Now, shocking new details about the night of his arrest have come to light in the Daily Mail's new podcast On the Case: The Idaho Murders, hosted by Investigative Reporter Laura Collins.
In the first episode of the new mini-series released today, Collins and Pulitzer nominated author Howard Blum – whose bestselling book explores the case in depth – reveal the extraordinary lengths authorities went to when finally cornering their suspect.
According to Blum, law enforcement launched a high-stakes midnight operation with helicopters, SWAT teams, and snipers trained on the Kohberger family home.
And it wasn't just Bryan they were after.
As the officers burst in, they didn't know what—or who—they might encounter.

Police presence at Ada County Courthouse
By Rachel Bowman For Dailymail.Com
As large crowds gathered outside the Ada County Courthouse, police have taken extra measures to ensure public safety.
Those admitted into the courthouse were searched by an Idaho State Police explosives detection dog, according to the Idaho Statesman.
They then went through the court's regular security screening and an additional screening on the fourth floor, where the hearing will take place.
Xana Kernodle's family was allowed to enter through the back of the courthouse, and police warned that anyone caught loitering near the back entrance would be arrested.
Who was victim Ethan Chapin?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Ethan Chapin, 20, was in his freshman year at the University of Idaho, where he majored in sports management and was part of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
The athletic, outgoing student grew up in Conway, Washington, with his parents Stacy and Jim Chapin and triplet siblings Maizie and Hunter – who attended the same college.
Chapin and Kernodle were dating, with the Chapins fondly noting how the young couple were ‘getting serious’.
Family and friends remember Chapin for his lively, fun personality, with his mom telling Daily Mail 'he was the clown of the family and he lifted any room that we were all in’.
‘I would say he was the top of the triplet pyramid. All things went through Ethan. He kept us all in check,’ she said.

Who was victim Kaylee Goncalves?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Kaylee Goncalves, 21, grew up in a big family – the middle of five children to Kristi and Steve Goncalves – in Rathdrum, Idaho.
She and Mogen went to school together and were inseparable from sixth grade, even choosing to go to the University of Idaho together. Goncalves was in her senior year majoring in general studies and was a ‘Big’ sister in the Alpha Phi sorority.
Ambitious and driven, she had already lined up a job in IT for when she graduated. The role meant she was about to move across the country for a new start in Austin, Texas.
Friend Shayla Anderson told Daily Mail Goncalves had a ‘strong-willed, fierce personality from the day that we met.’ ‘She was the best person to give advice, although I regret not always taking it. But Kaylee was such a strong person and young woman,’ she said.

Who was victim Xana Kernodle?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Xana Kernodle, 20, was in her junior year at the University of Idaho where she majored in marketing and was a Pi Beta Phi sorority sister. She also worked at the Mad Greek restaurant.
Before going off to college, Kernodle grew up in Avondale, Arizona, and then Post Falls, Idaho, with her dad Jeff Kernodle and older sister Jazzmin Kernodle. Her mother had battled drug addiction and was in and out of jail throughout her childhood.
To those who knew her, Kernodle was the life and soul of the party – someone who was always having fun and acting spontaneously.
Best friend Emily Alandt pointed to the way Kernodle first introduced herself to the sorority as a representation of her vibrant, outgoing character. ‘I’m Xana, pronounced ‘Xanax’ without the -x,’ she recalled in new book ‘The Idaho Four: An American Tragedy.'

Maddie Mogen’s family has publicly supported the plea deal, saying it allows them to ‘embark on a path of hope and healing.’
Outside the courthouse at the change of plea hearing on July 2, Leander James – attorney for her mom Karen and stepdad Scott Laramie – said they believe it ‘is the best outcome for the victims, their families and the state of Idaho.’
Mogen’s father Ben Mogen told CBS News he was also ‘relieved’ that the deal means Bryan Kohberger will never be freed.
It is not clear if the family plans to speak at the sentencing hearing.

Xana Kernodle and her older sister Jazzmin Kernodle were raised by their dad Jeff Kernodle.
Their mom Cara Northington has grappled with drug abuse and spent much of their childhoods in and out of prison.
Earlier this month, Jeff said he was ‘disappointed’ with the prosecution for striking a plea deal and said he wished it had at least required Bryan Kohberger to reveal details about his crimes.
Northington told the Daily Mail earlier this month she also plans to attend the hearing and deliver a statement to the court.
Who was victim Madison Mogen?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Madison ‘Maddie’ Mogen, 21, grew up as an only child in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, with her mom Karen Laramie and stepdad Scott Laramie.
On the surface, she was a quiet, girly girl who loved pink – a balance to her more outgoing best friend.
But, Mogen was also known for her funny sense of humor and unwavering kindness towards others.
‘We were in Seattle one time, and I’m watching her as an adult, going shopping and being in these stores, and I’m like: 'You’re just so kind to everybody. Like, did we really ingrain that in you? That’s amazing,'’ her mom told NBC’s Today show. ‘She just had that genuine love that’s just impossible to describe.’
Mogen was in her senior year studying marketing, was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and worked at the Mad Greek restaurant in Moscow. She had planned to move to Boise after graduating, where her boyfriend of two years Jake Schriger was living.

A look at Bryan Kohberger's sentence for the heinous murder of four university students
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Judge Hippler is expected to sentence Kohberger to life in prison without the possibility of parole, in line with the controversial plea deal struck between the defense and prosecution in the case.
In an unexpected change of plea hearing on July 2, Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Kohberger will avoid the death penalty and will be sentenced to four consecutive life sentences for each of the murders, plus the maximum penalty of 10 years on the burglary count.
Kohberger also agreed to waive his right to appeal the plea and sentence as part of the agreement.
Who is Bryan Kohberger?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Bryan Kohberger grew up in a quiet, rural neighborhood in the Poconos region of Pennsylvania with his parents Michael and MaryAnn and older sisters Amanda and Melissa.
As a child, he was shy and overweight – with former classmates saying he was bullied.
In his teenage years, Kohberger began using heroin – an addiction that resulted in multiple rehab stints and an incident where his father called police after he stole his sister’s cell phone and sold it for drugs.
After getting clean, Kohberger turned his attention to pursuing an education in criminology.
First, he went to DeSales University, Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in psychology and a Masters in criminal justice under renowned serial killer expert Dr. Katherine Ramsland.
In the summer of 2022, he then moved across the country to enroll in a criminology PhD program at Washington State University – just over the border from the University of Idaho campus. As part of his education, Kohberger learned about the minds of killers – and intricate details about crime scenes.
Furious father of Bryan Kohberger victim reveals 'weird porn fetishes' that may have driven killer's rampage
By katrina schollenberger
The father of one of the University of Idaho murder victims revealed that Bryan Kohberger's 'weird porn fetishes' may provide insight into the motive behind the 2022 killings.
Steve Goncalves, whose daughter Kaylee was among the four students murdered, voiced his frustration over the lack of public disclosure about Kohberger, a criminology graduate student at Washington State University.
Kohberger's motive remains the biggest mystery in the case, and one that prosecutors had been unable to determine after a nearly-three-year-long investigation.
What will happen next after Bryan Kohberger's sentencing?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Following the sentencing, Kohberger will be transferred to the custody of the Idaho Department of Correction, which will determine which prison will become home for the rest of his life.
Due to the severity of his crime – and the high-profile nature of the case – Kohberger is expected to be sent to the state’s only maximum security facility.
Idaho Maximum Security Institution, which has been open since 1989, is home to other notorious inmates including doomsday cult killer Chad Daybell, who sits on death row.
While Kohberger begins his lifetime behind bars, more information is expected to come to light about the murders.
The gag order was lifted last week, finally allowing attorneys, law enforcement and other officials to speak about the case.
At the time, both the prosecution and the defense said they would not make any statements until after the sentencing.
Judge Hippler said the court will also begin the painstaking process to review all the records in the case to determine what can be unsealed and made public.

Will Bryan Kohberger speak at his sentencing today?
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Before the judge hands down his sentence, Kohberger will also be given the opportunity to speak to the court – giving him one final opportunity to reveal why he decided to commit his heinous crime.
After pleading guilty, a defendant is given a formal opportunity – called an allocution – to address the court to express remorse, accept responsibility and explain any mitigating circumstances they want the judge to consider in deciding their sentence.
It is unclear if Kohberger plans to take that opportunity.
There is no legal obligation for him to speak to the court or to explain his motive.
Some of the victims’ families have voiced their frustration that this was not a requirement of his plea deal.
President Donald Trump has also weighed in on the matter, taking to Truth Social Monday to urge the judge to force Kohberger to ‘explain why he did these horrible murders’ in Wednesday’s hearing.
Since his arrest, Kohberger has cut a largely silent figure.
At his change of plea hearing earlier this month, he gave only one-word answers to the judge’s questions confirming he was guilty of the horrific crime.
He offered no answers to the questions lingering in the case, including his motive for the murders, who his intended target was and how he chose his victims.
Idaho murder victim impact statements
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
During the sentencing, the families and friends of the victims will be given the opportunity to confront the man who slaughtered their loved ones when they deliver victim impact statements to the court.
Many have already revealed their plans to do so, including members of the Goncalves family and Kernodle’s mom Cara Northington.
Chapin’s parents have said the family will not attend the hearing, instead planning to do something together in their son’s memory.
As well as the families, the two surviving roommates Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke and other friends of the victims will also have the chance to speak publicly for the first time.
Those who do want to address the court can speak in-person themselves or have a representative read out a statement on their behalf.
DEEP DIVE: Footsteps of the Idaho killer

Hours before a heinous crime which instilled fear into the small college town of Moscow, Idaho, and rattled the entire nation, six friends stood smiling on the porch of their off-campus student accommodation.
Bryan Kohberger, dressed in dark clothing, donning a mask and without any obvious motive, would that night sneak into their home at 1122 King Road and stab four of them to death, spattering walls with blood as he prowled from room to room.

Members of the public line up outside Ada County Courthouse in Idaho
By Rachel Sharp For Dailymail.com
Outside Ada County Courthouse, around 40 members of the public and media were already in line by 4am local time.
The court has a strict no camping rule but some people began lining up outside by around 9pm Tuesday – 12 hours before the hearing begins.
The court cleared the line and said people could only line up from 4am.
A makeshift line had formed over the road from the court before the Daily Mail arrived around 3am.
Some arguing broke out as people cut in front just before the line relocated to the courthouse.
There seems to be a mix of media and crime sleuths – including a group who have traveled to many cases together.
