Footage has emerged of the moment a man in tradie gear allegedly stole 53 pairs of shoes from an Aussie mall – seemingly unaware that they were not matching pairs.

Police are looking to speak to the male who was filmed on CCTV about 7.35pm on Monday at the shopping centre on Brookfield Road, in the Brisbane riverside suburb of Kenmore.

The man can be seen on the CCTV as he entered the shopping centre with a suitcase balanced on top of a shopping trolley.

He calmly walked into the mall before he wandered around, seemingly listening to music through headphones plugged into his phone.

The man then walked up to the middle of a common area where there were three separate stalls piled with display items that had been covered up for the night.

He carefully unwrapped one stall’s display and piled it into his suitcase, appearing to deliberately take his time so as not to draw attention to himself.

Queensland Police are investigating the incident after the man allegedly made off with 53 shoes – all of which were for a right foot.

The man can be seen glancing up at CCTV before he calmly pushed the shopping trolley with the items  out of frame.

Queensland Police posted an image taken from the CCTV footage on Facebook, where is sparked a flood of comments.

Local residents saw the funny side of the alleged crime and shared a series of humorous, pun-heavy observations on the post.

‘He’s going to be hopping mad when he realises he didn’t get any pairs!!!’ one said.

‘Didn’t get off on the right foot,’ another joked.

‘I would say he LEFT without thinking that through,’ a third quipped.

Someone else chimes in with: ‘I’m pretty sure I saw this guy at the ATM checking his balance….’

‘Should be easy to spot, he will be walking in circles,’ another added.

Someone else teased: ‘At least he got the right ones, he’d be kicking himself if he got the wrong ones!’

Queensland Police confirmed they ‘are investigating after 53 right shoes were stolen from a business in Kenmore on Monday, July 7.

‘Investigations indicate about 7.35pm, an unknown male has removed a number of right shoes, that were covered in the middle of a common area, at a shopping centre on Brookfield Road.

‘Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man or have relevant information to contact police.’
