A young man with alleged ties to the notorious Rebels bikie gang has been accused of shooting a caged cat at point-blank range.
Police allegedly discovered shocking video of the cat being shot and killed on the man’s phone after he was pulled over in Villawood, in Sydney’s west, on June 28.
It’s alleged the Hino truck the 29-year-old man was driving was stolen from Camden Valley Way in Leppington, some 30km away, on June 3.
During a search of the Hino, officers found balaclavas, bolt cutters and gloves.
The man was interviewed by officers, who seized his phone, and was released.
One month later, officers swooped on a home in Rosemeadow, south-west Sydney, and executed a search warrant.
‘Police located and seized the butt of a rifle, a taser, $18,400 in cash, 170 vials of human growth hormones, a CCTV and a Rebels branded vest,’ a statement read.
The 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
He was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance.
The man faced Parramatta Local Court on July 3 and was granted conditional bail.
However, the 29-year-old was re-arrested about 7pm on Tuesday and taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
He was charged with unauthorised prohibited firearm, fire firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property and torture, beat etc and cause death of animal.
He was refused bail and was due to face Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday.
