Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs demanded to speak directly with US District Judge Arun Subramanian moments after he denied the rapper’s $1million bond request.
The 55-year-old music mogul was found guilty on Wednesday of sex-trafficking and racketeering, but was convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Diddy’s attorneys had asked the judge to release him so he could await sentencing in his Miami mansion, claiming he needs to take care of his sick 85-year-old mother Janice Combs.
The prosecution fought back the request with a letter from Cassie Ventura’s lawyer and witness Deonte Nash, who said they feared the mogul’s release.
Subramanian ultimately cited Diddy’s ‘years-long pattern of violence’ as he issued his decision to deny him bond, saying the mogul has shown a ‘disregard for the rule of law and a propensity of violence.’
Still, the defense did not give up – begging the judge to reconsider his decision and arguing that Combs was a ‘model prisoner’ who would not flee.
The judge countered that the defense has even admitted that Combs has a history of violence, at which point his attorney Marc Agnifilo informed Subramanian that his client would like to have a word in private with the judge.
The music mogul was convicted of two counts under the federal Mann Act for transporting people, including his girlfriends and paid male sex workers, to engage in prostitution. Each count of the felony crime carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
