A body covered in blood has been found near a popular waterhole in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency services were called to bushland near the Georges River off Woolwash Drive in Airds about 5pm on Tuesday.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed but is believed to be a man aged in his 20’s. A crime scene has been established at the site.
Responders used four-wheel-drives to access the deceased’s location along a trail road towards the Woolwash – a secluded stretch of bush along the Georges River known for its rugged trails, steep gorge and hiking trails.
A sign beside the road warns visitors the water quality is not suitable for swimming.
