A brawl broke out at a family-favorite restaurant in Massachusetts the night before Thanksgiving after lines to get into the building spread all the way down the street.

Kowloon, a popular restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts, attracts families looking to dine out, with many attending as an annual tradition on Thanksgiving Eve.

This year – a dramatic fight broke out on Wednesday night as unruly guests began scrapping, with a number of patrons throwing punches in the middle of the restaurant.

Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli slammed the disorder, labelling the fight ‘unacceptable and disgusting’.

He said in a statement: ‘The Kowloon is a family-friendly restaurant, unfortunately a few unruly patrons ruined a nice evening for many others.

‘A disturbance such as this on Thanksgiving Eve is unacceptable and disgusting.’

Six Saugus police officers were already monitoring the crowds at the restaurant because large groups of people are expected to show up on the Wednesday night before thanksgiving – as many families have made it part of their holiday ritual. 

State troopers joined the local cops on the scene shortly after the fight had been contained by the police department.

The additional forces decided to stick around the scene to help disperse the crowds of people after the restaurant’s management shut the spot down early because of the brawl.

Police said that no arrests were made in relation to the violent incident – but that the investigation is ongoing. 

A glass bottle was allegedly used as a weapon during the wild outbreak – which is a felony.

‘You know we’re not really known for a place with people getting drunk and having fights. 

‘Every once in a while, you get two people together whether it’s here, at a football game, anywhere, it can happen anywhere, it could happen in your own house. You got family members who don’t get along.’

Kowloon had uploaded a post on their Facebook page shortly before the fight broke out saying they were thankful for their customers.

‘We are very grateful for the hundreds of customers who are waiting outside to join us for their pre-Thanksgiving meal. Thank you,’ the post said.

Many fans of the restaurant took to the comments to share their appreciation for the local hotspot.

‘This restaurant is such a staple for so many families,’ one fan said. 

Another user said: ‘This building needs to be landmarked!’

‘Love this restaurant since I was little,’ someone commented.
