An Aussie man dressed as a furry has been thrown to the ground during a violent attack outside a busy shopping mall in Adelaide.

Dennis Gunn, 20, was punched and kicked by three male strangers in Rundle Mall on Saturday while holding up a sign reading ‘Vote 1 Furry Party’.

The 20-year-old content creator can be seen falling to the ground after receiving a flying kick to the head in footage shared online.

Mr Gunn was wearing a furry dog head and paws while filming an election day stunt when the incident took place.

‘It came out of nowhere,’ he told Daily Mail on Tuesday.

‘I was interacting with a young family beforehand, taking photos with them, giving high-fives to their children as per the requests of their parents.

‘Thirty seconds later I got jumped, someone was ripping apart my costume, punching me. My friends tried to get them off me and straight away I was fly-kicked and pounced on by three people.’

Mr Gunn said his attackers ‘got his [furry] head off and kicked me in the head pretty hard’.

Mr Gunn added he’s received death threats after sharing the footage online.

But, despite this he remains in ‘good spirits’ and is overwhelmed with the positive response from ‘people all around the world’.

‘I’m going to keep public suiting, I’m going to keep performing because I’m not going to let people like that stop me from doing what makes me happy and makes others happy,’ he said.

In a clip shared to Instagram, Mr Gunn said: ‘I got a big bruise on my head but I’m not going to let it stop me, this is what makes me happy, this is my hobby’.

He lashed the three men who attacked him as ‘cowards’.

South Police (SAPOL) confirmed they were investigating the assault.

‘The victim, a 20-year-old man, was assaulted by three males in the Mall about 4pm on Saturday 3 May. The suspects left prior to police arrival,’ a spokesperson said.

‘The victim was assessed by paramedics but did not require medical treatment. Investigations are continuing.’
