It comes three months after the former MTV personality announced her divorce from the former NFL player, 45.

The singer’s latest project, an EP released on March 21, is the result of her split from Eric.

In a behind-the-scenes video snippet showing the making of the new music, she said, ‘The reward of a broken heart is a ballad. You gotta feel to heal.’

At the time of her divorce announcement, she said in a statement, ‘Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage.’

Breakup rumors first swirled in November 2024 when she began teasing her new songs, writing on the internet, ‘Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic.

‘This comeback is personal. It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.’

The former spouses are parents to daughter Maxwell, 12, son Ace, 11, and daughter Birdie, six. 

While Simpson has not blatantly said what caused the marriage to crumble, she has alluded to cheating on her ex’s part. 

On the track Leave she seems to insinuate Johnson stepped out on her, with lyrics, ‘What we had was magic / Now you’ve made it tragic / Giving her what you gave to me / Now the well that you drank from is empty.
