Virgiania Giuffre’s tragic life crashed around her ears after she recieved a multi-million pound payout from Prince Andrew.
The 41-year-old trafficking victim, whose suicide was announced by her family this morning, released a slew of troubled social media posts in the months leading up to her death.
Her final post revealed she was hospitalised and claimed she only had four days to live after a bizarre bus crash – which police later said was minor and caused less than £1,000 damage.
Giuffre had been charged with breaching a family violence restraining order just days before and was listed to appear in court less than two days after she was released from hospital. She was due to appear in court to enter a plea on June 11.
It came after a brutal break-up from her estranged husband of 22 years, with a bitter battle for custody over access to their children.
According to her father Sky Roberts, she was going through a ‘messy’ divorce and no longer lived with Robert at their £900,000 beachside mansion in Perth, .
She later returned to Instagram to share a link to break-up song Somebody That I Used To Know, by n artist Gotye, followed by a blank story, which had a broken heart emoji as its title.
Giuffre claimed she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew at the behest of Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, jailed British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, when she was just 17, which the Prince denies.
The Duke of York was forced to pay out a settlement reportedly worth around £12 million after Ms Giuffre alleged that paedophile Epstein trafficked her across the world to have sex with the prince. He has denied ever having sex with her.
She had alleged he sexually assaulted her three times, in London during a 2001 trip, at Epstein’s New York mansion when she was 17 and in the Virgin Islands when she was 18.
Andrew repeatedly denied her allegations and has said he can’t recall ever meeting her, although a photograph of them together in a London townhouse, his arm around her bare midriff, was included in Giuffre’s lawsuit against him.
The settlement did not involve any admission of liability on his behalf, and he denies any sexual contact with her.
Giuffre, née Roberts, sparked global concern last month when she posted a photograph from her hospital bed on March 30, claiming doctors had told her she had just four days left to live.
She said her car had been hit by a school bus travelling at 110km/h and the accident had left her with kidney failure.
The shocking photograph showed discolouration to Giuffre’s face and chest, which appeared to be severe bruising.
But the bus driver Sean Munns and multiple passengers later came forward claiming the crash was nothing more than a ‘minor bump.’
Western Police confirmed they had one recent record of a ‘minor’ bus and car collision with ‘no reported injuries’ on March 24 just after 3pm.
According to reports, Giuffre admitted herself to Joondalup Hospital in the northern suburbs of Perth with a pre-existing injury after the collision but was discharged the following day.
The following week Giuffre was brought to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, also in Perth, by ambulance and was seeking treatment for pain.
Three days after the picture emerged, a spokesman for Giuffre said she had ‘made a mistake’ and had not intended to share the post publicly.
On April 7 she was discharged from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth after a week-long stay.
The following day she was spotted by Daily Mail photographer where she flipped her middle finger as her brother Danny Wilson drove off in their £70,000 Chevrolet Silverado.
Giuffre had been living alone at her £600,000 country property after splitting from her husband.
While he had initially joined the towns social media pages, posting about his wish to keep bees and plant native trees, he is now living 40 miles away at their Perth beach house with their three children.
She bought the 40-acre home, surrounded by barbed wire fences and high-tech CCTV, after the settlement from the Duke of York.
The mother-of-three had previously admitted that her profile was ‘a lot’ for her teenage chilren to carry, and there were rumours that she had also become estranged from them in the run up to her death.
Giuffre was accused of breaching a family violence restraining order at the family home, and was due to enter a plea in June.
‘You don’t know the half of it,’ one neighbour told the Mail earlier this month. ‘I can’t really say anymore, but none of this surprises me.’
The pair had met in Thailand while Giuffre was on a massage training course, paid for by Epstein, and were married two weeks later.
Originally born in Florida, she and Robert moved to in 2019 prior to Epstein being arrested.
Two days before the car crash, on March 22, Giuffre posted a sun-dappled picture of her children on a beach, accompanied by an apparent desperate plea to see them.
‘My beautiful babies have no clue how much I love them and they’re being poisoned with lies,’ she posted.
‘I miss them so very much. I have been through hell and back in my 41 years but this is incredibly hurting me worse than anything else.
‘Hurt me, abuse me but don’t take my babies. My heart is shattered and every day that passes my sadness only deepens.’
In the post from her hospital bed a week later, Giuffre said: ‘I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology.’
‘I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time. My heart is shattered and every day that passes my sadness only deepens.’
It was not the first time that Giuffre had been hospitalised, after a series of accidents resulted in her needing medical treatment.
In August 2020 Giuffre posted a video from hospital in Queensland in which she appears to have two black eyes and severe bruising around her neck.
While she did not go into detail about her injuries, or their cause, she said she was in ICU and thanked people ‘all around the world’ for their support.
‘I’m too tough for something like this to take me down and I got a bionic spine out of it,’ she said.
‘I just wanted to tell you all just how much I appreciate all your comments.’
In November 2023, Giuffre was in hospital again for ‘spinal surgery,’ and took to social media to thank her husband for spoiling her with pancakes.
Then in January 2024 she was in a quad bike accident.
‘Thanks for all the love, I was trying to clock out a T-Rex for my daughter on an ATV and lost control,’ she wrote.
‘Thank heavens that we are both on the road to recovery.’
A year later on January 9, 2025 Giuffre said she was once again in hospital.
She was allegedly involved in an incident near Dunsborough, Western that reportedly left her with undisclosed injuries and needing medical treatment.
‘Heroic’ Giuffre died by suicide at her farm, her devastated family revealed in a statement this morning.
They said: ‘It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western .
‘She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
‘Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors.
‘Despite all the adversity she faced in her life, she shone so bright. She will be missed beyond measure.’
Her family added that ‘the light of her life’ were her children Christian, Noah, and Emily.
‘It was when she held her newborn daughter in her arms that Virginia realized she had to fight back against those who had abused her and so many others,’ they said.
The 41-year-old, born Virginia Roberts, grew to prominence after she went public with allegations against the late financier and called for charges to be brought against him.
‘There are no words that can express the grave loss we feel today with the passing of our sweet Virginia,’ the statement continued.
‘She was heroic and will always be remembered for her incredible courage and loving spirit.
‘In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight. We know that she is with the angels.’
Police confirmed emergency services received reports of an unresponsive woman at a property in the Perth suburb of Neergabby on Friday night.
‘Police and St John Western attended and provided emergency first aid. Sadly, the 41-year-old woman was declared deceased at the scene,’ a police spokeswoman said.
‘The death is being investigated by Major Crime detectives; early indication is the death is not suspicious.’
