A Florida woman was arrested for allegedly abusing her boyfriend’s children after one of them wrote ‘pleas help us’ on a a Post-it note, prompting an investigation.
Katrina Carrilo, 25, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on Wednesday night in connection with the allegations.
In court records seen by local10, the probe into Carrilo started in March when her boyfriend’s 9-year-old son left the pink Post-it pleading for help.
It is unclear where the note was left, and who was the first to read it but it was enough to alert the Florida Department of Children and Families, who stepped in.
The department got the youngster and his brother away from Carrillo, and the boy went on to speak with investigators.
During an interview, the boy claimed that Carrilo pinned him to the ground and beat him before trying to smother him with a blanket and a pillow.
According to the reports, the boy told the interviewer that it felt like he ‘was not breathing’.
Police then met with Carrilo at the Miami Police Department headquarters where she denied the accusations.
The report said that she told officers that she ‘disciplines her children and not her boyfriend’s’.
She was then arrested and prosecutors charged her with felony child abuse, she then posted a $5,000 bail the same day and was released.
In court on Thursday, she was told to stay away from her boyfriend’s children. Her next court date was not known.
