A mother of three was found bleeding to death by her own children in the family home – and their father has been charged with her murder.
Hien Thi Vu, 45, was treated for severe injuries by paramedics at the family home in New Cross, south-east London, early on Sunday morning but her life could not be saved and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly afterwards her husband, businessman Hai Van Nguyen, 41, was charged with her murder.
Nguyen appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon over the death of a woman described as ‘the most loving, selfless and kind-hearted’ mother.
Her three children paid tribute to their beloved mother in a GoFundMe appeal for donations to help pay for a ‘farewell she deserves’.
In a moving address, her eldest wrote: ‘Our beloved mother, Hien Thi Vu, was tragically taken from us on Sunday.
‘She passed away in our home. Her death is now part of an ongoing investigation, and our father has been charged with her murder.
‘My younger sister and brother were the ones who discovered our mum’s body that morning – an experience no child should ever have to go through.
‘While we await answers and justice, we are left with an overwhelming grief.
‘Our mum was the most loving, selfless and kind-hearted person we knew.
‘She was the sole provider for our family, working tirelessly to ensure we had everything we needed. She dedicated her life to us, always putting others first.
‘She didn’t deserve what happened – she deserved peace, love and safety. We miss her more than words can express.’
They added: ‘We are struggling with the immense pain of this loss, and our only wish is to give our mum the proper, peaceful farewell she deserves – one that reflects the beautiful, strong person she was.
‘We are humbly asking for your support to help cover the costs of her funeral and any associated expenses.
‘Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly towards laying her to rest with the dignity, love, and respect she deserves.
‘While no amount of money can ease the pain, your generosity will help us take the necessary steps to honour her memory and begin the long process of healing.
‘P.S. We love you, Mummy. Our time was short, but your love is with us forever.’
A Met Police spokesman said: ‘Hai Van Nguyen, 41, of Hatfield Close, Lewisham was charged on Monday, 14 April with the murder of his wife, Hien Thi Vu, 45.
‘Nguyen was remanded in custody and appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon.
‘His next hearing will be at a court and on a date that is yet to be decided.
‘Hien Vu’s next-of-kin have been informed and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
‘A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.’
