Disturbing footage has emerged of a group of ‘Karens’ unleashing into an expletive-filled tirade at two teenage fishermen.

The boys were fishing at a pond on Delfin Island near West Lakes in Adelaide’s west last Saturday when they were confronted by the angry group.

A heated exchange soon escalated with both groups filming each other and threatening to call the police.

The group appeared to be local residents concerned about protecting native wildlife.

At least four adults were heard yelling at the teens and demanding they leave, despite the boys doing nothing illegal.

One man shouted profanities at the boys including, ‘the police is on their way’, ‘you take this phone away’, ‘p*** off’, ‘you go away’, ‘shut the f*** up’ and ‘f*** off’.

Another man grabbed a bag belonging to one of the boys and tossed it onto the nearby grass.

‘You can’t do that’, the shocked boy said.

A woman fired back: ‘You ruin the environment, we ruin your things.’

The group then got very close to the boys, where one woman loudly clapped her hands in one of their faces.

As a boy filmed a man’s rage, he leaned into the camera and shouted ‘You go away … f*** you.’

The boys eventually left the scene to avoid tensions escalating further.

The incident sparked outrage from viewers online.

Many believed the locals overreacted.

‘From what I could see, the children were fishing, let them fish better they do that than get into mischief,’ one wrote.

‘It’s absolutely appalling behaviour from the adults, if that was one of my kids, I would be down there with them next time.’

A recreational fishers’ group added: ‘Delfin Island is not closed to recreational fishing as claimed by residents who continue to deface and alter council signage.

Charles Sturt Council has since weighed into the saga and confirmed the boys weren’t doing anything illegal.

‘The by-laws say that fishing is permitted in the lake – but the fishermen need to be more than six metres away from any property boundary,’ council chief executive Paul Sutton told The Advertiser.

‘I think they probably were (six metres away) but I haven’t been down there with a tape measure to measure it out.’

SA Police attended the ‘disturbance between two groups’ but ‘no offences were disclosed.’
