Taylor Swift made it clear to Travis Kelce that he should play on in the NFL when the Kansas City Chiefs star considered quitting football after the Super Bowl loss in February.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end looked like a man ready to call it quits after his team’s three-peat dreams were left in ruins by a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans in February.

But the 35-year-old eventually decided that he would play on with the Chiefs, thanks in no small part to the influence of Swift.

‘She didn’t want Travis to retire,’ a source was quoted as telling Page Six. ‘She wanted him to go out on a high note.’

The publication adds that Kelce and Swift made the decision ‘as a couple’ during talks about what the future holds for the pair of them.

At 35, Kelce is unquestionably in the twilight of his career and they questioned if he will still be able to handle the physical demands of another season, at the least, in the NFL.

‘He has to be able to physically do it,’ the insider added, with the publication also saying the final call was Kelce’s own.

But Swift’s advice appears to have been echoed by his teammates in Kansas City.

Rashee Rice, the wide receiver for the Chiefs, said earlier this week that he urged Kelce not to end his career with a loss on the biggest stage.

‘I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, I’m 95 percent of the reason he ain’t retiring,’ he told REVOLT Sports.

‘Told him he can’t go out like that. I’m gonna make sure we get that next year. He was finna hang it up. I’m pretty sure he was gonna hang it up. And I’m like, ‘Bro, we can’t go out like that.”

‘I texted him. He basically was like, ‘bro, I really appreciate that.’ He’s like, ‘you really got me thinking about it. I really appreciate you reaching out to me.’ And then I seen it pop up on the media. I said, ‘all right now,” he concluded, imitating the tight end’s catchphrase.

Kelce opened up about his decision to his older brother Jason on their New Heights epsiode.

‘I feel like I owe the guys that I come into that building with a whole lot more effort and focus. I just don’t know what it was during that game man, I wasn’t at my best,’ he said of the Super Bowl.

‘The more that I see clips or watch the film and put myself back into those moments, man, I’m just like ‘what the f**k.”

His brother and co-host Jason replied: ‘Don’t overanalyze it Trav. You’re the king of not overanalyzing, so don’t overanalyze it.’
