With a glass of champagne in hand and surrounded by friends, Georgia Jones enjoyed a much-needed break from the drama that has engulfed her family for the past two weeks.
The former Miss England, 38, has escaped to her best friend Rose Mahon’s home, and the pair were seen enjoying the sunshine at a pub in south-west London at the weekend.
Behind closed doors, Georgia has been dealing with the humiliating fallout of her husband Danny Jones, 39, being caught on camera kissing his I’m A Celeb campmate Maura Higgins, 34, at a raucous Brits afterparty.
As I revealed last week, Georgia and Danny – who have been married for 11 years – are now on a break and living separately.
Georgia dressed in dark sunglasses and a black beanie hat for her first public appearance since her disgraced husband issued a belated public apology on Friday, almost two weeks after he was caught kissing Maura. Addressing his many disappointed fans on Instagram, Danny apologised to Georgia, who is the mother to his seven-year-old son Cooper, for ‘putting her in the situation’.
But a friend tells me: ‘Georgia is still very cut up about the situation and had to get some space away from Danny.
‘It has been overwhelming and she needs time to process what has happened.
‘But one thing she is sure about is that she will keep her head held high no matter what the weeks ahead have in store. She refuses to be humiliated anymore.
‘She has got great friends around her who will keep her smiling despite the pain.’
I’m told Georgia is ‘frustrated’ with the way that The Voice judge has handled the fallout from the kiss.
A friend of Georgia said: ‘It has gone beyond his kiss with Maura. He has shown a different side to his character. Georgia has been frustrated with his priorities throughout the whole sordid saga.
‘At every step, he has chosen to protect his own career over the feelings of his family.
‘For Georgia, her boy Cooper will always be her number one priority.’
Indeed, instead of swallowing his pride and addressing the cheating scandal as soon as it broke, Danny embarked on a ‘last-ditch attempt to salvage his reputation’.
In a move dreamt up by his publicity machine, Danny asked Georgia to take a walk with him in Richmond, south-west London.
The photographs were meant to give the impression the pair were working things out.
Instead, Georgia was pictured walking alongside her husband with a face like thunder and her left hand firmly in her pocket, refusing to show her wedding ring finger in a ‘little act of defiance’.
McFly singer and I’m A Celeb winner Danny’s reputation has been shattered by the scandal.
Following the Brit Awards earlier this month the musician attended an afterparty, where he was reunited with his former jungle campmate Maura – who also appeared on Love Island.
While Georgia was at home looking after their son Cooper, Danny and Maura – whose chemistry was palpable on the show – were seen chatting intimately as she lay her head adoringly on his shoulder.
Then, just before 3am, they were caught having a ‘drunken kiss’ before they left in separate cars.
In the furore that followed, influencer and podcast host Georgia pulled out of all her upcoming work engagements, while Maura conveniently jetted to Los Angeles for a photoshoot with clothing brand Oh Polly.
Mr Jones embarks on a tour with McFly in May. The extensive trip will see him on the road until November, taking in more than 40 dates across the UK and Ireland.
