Horrifying video shows the moment a young bullfighter was viciously gored from behind by a bull in Mexico.
The gruesome incident occurred at La Ranchero Aguilar bullring on Saturday in Tlaxcala, where matador Emilio Macías was seen approaching the bull with his sword pointed at the animal.
The hulking beast, known as as Faraón (Pharaoh), suddenly charged at the 29-year-old bullfighter and hooked him with a horn, lifting the matador off his feet.
The bull then carried Macías around the ring for about eight seconds, with its horn stuck in the matador’s backside.
The bullfighter was finally freed as attendants rushed to his side, carrying the injured matador out of the ring.
Macías was taken to Puebla Hospital in Puebla, where he underwent an operation that lasted almost nine hours, according to local media.
‘My brother has already left the operation,’ his brother, José Macías, said in a statement posted on Instagram. ‘We are waiting for the medical report. Thank you all for your expressions of affection and your prayers.’
Macías started as an apprentice bullfighter in August 2012, following in the footsteps of his father, Primitivo Macías, and his brother.
He made his debut two years later at Mexico City’s Plaza de Toros, the world’s largest bullfighting ring.
Its the second near tragic incident to take place at La Ranchero Aguilar in over a year. On February 10, 2024, José Ortega, 27, was gored by a 1,091-pound bull named Cigarrero.
Frightening video showed Ortega kneeling on one knee when the bull struck him with its horn on the neck and face.
Ortega underwent three surgeries to repair multiple skull fractures and a dislocated jaw.
He was discharged after 10 days and returned to the bullfighting last November.
‘If God has given me the opportunity to continue living, I thank him and I will try again,’ Ortega said upon his return, as quoted by Mundo Toro.
