The dress was complicated with a nude decorated top portion and a tiered maroon skirt which looked retro like an old Audrey Hepburn frock.
But on closer inspection, it looks like Zoe was showing more than her good sense of style.
In several shots, the top part is so sheer her nipples can be seen as well as the outline of her breast.
This is a no-no for a major awards show that air lives on a mainstream network at prime time when children are watching.
The Oscar producers will have a challenge ahead of them as they will have to pull far back from Zoe’s dress or zoom in on her face if she gets up on stage.

If the FCC thinks that there was too much exposure, they could fine the Academy Awards for showing too much.
It is a violation of federal law to air obscene programming at any time.
It is also a violation of federal law to broadcast indecent or profane programming during certain hours. Under 18 U.S.C. Section 1464, ‘[w]hoever utters any obscene, indecent, or profane language by means of radio communication shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.’

Zoe likely did not intend to show so much of her chest as this is a big night for the actress, but she did wear a completely nude look for a recent cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

This comes a month after Saldana praised her fellow nominees as she accepted the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez.
The 46-year-old actress beat off strong competition from Danielle Deadwyler, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Ariana Grande, Margaret Qualley and Isabella Rossellini to take home the award for her work in ‘Emilia Pérez’ at the ceremony at the Barker Hanger in Los Angeles.
She said: ‘To my fellow nominees, the films this year and the work you’ve all done. It’s breathtaking. I will forever be proud to be among you. Thank you to all of you. I can’t see you, but you f****** rock.’ She also shared that she tries not to pay too much attention to movie critics but added ‘I will listen to you all tonight and I will accept this with pride’.
