An ‘incredible’ mother who was killed in a Coventry house fire on Saturday has been named as Sylwia Burnos.

The mother-of-one was found dead at a property in Radford after a fire broke out shortly before 2.30pm on February 22.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at the semi-detached property on Sandy Lane but unfortunately found the body of the 30-year-old woman inside.

Working at a local JD gym in Coventry, Sylwia has been remembered as a ‘beloved’ colleague and a ‘kind and caring’ person.

She is survived by her 9-year-old daughter Anastasia.

Jessica Wallen, friend of the young mother, has since launched a JustGiving page to raise funds for Sylwia’s funeral and to help support her daughter. At the time of writing, over £1,200 has been donated.

Posting a moving tribute to her friend online, Jessica said: ‘It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden and tragic passing of Sylwia Burnos at the young age of 30.

‘Sylwia was a beloved member of the JD Gyms family, where she worked for six years, leaving a lasting impression on both staff and members’.

Jessica went on to add: ‘Sylwia was valued, cherished, and brought so much joy to those around her.

‘She was kind and caring and always wanted to try and help others where she could.

‘She was extremely generous even in times when she may not have had a lot to give and did this because she wanted to make others happy.

‘We want to remember Sylwia for the incredible person she was, the moments when her happiness was contagious when she was unstoppable, and when her presence lit up the room’.

The tribute continued: ‘Like all of us, she had her highs and lows, but she faced them with strength and resilience, and always put on a brave face in the hardest of times.’

‘Our hearts are especially with her 9 year old daughter, who is now facing life without her mother.

‘In honour of Sylwia’s memory, we are raising funds to go towards funeral costs and to support her daughter during this incredibly difficult time’.

Investigations into Sylwia’s death remain ongoing with the exact cause of the fatal blaze still unknown.

Speaking to the incident, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said: ‘A forensic post-mortem has taken place, and we are continuing to work with West Midlands Fire Service to establish the exact cause of the fire’.
