Keith Urban will be hitting the road in an effort to find country music’s next star.
The country crooner, 57, who covered Elton John’s Your Song with the help of wife Nicole Kidman, 57, will be headlining a new reality show for CBS called The Road the network announced on Tuesday.
Urban is teaming up with co-executive producer Blake Shelton for the show.
Contestants will be invited to open for Country Music Association Award winner at music venues across the US.
The audience will have a say whether musicians get to stay with the tour and move on to the next city.
In a statement, the Somewhere in My Car singer explained the stakes.

‘I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,’ he said.
‘Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught, like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd,’ he argued.

In a video on the CBS Instagram account, the hitmaker revealed the show is the latest brainchild of Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who was also the creator of wife Nicole Kidman’s hit series Lioness.

Shows to be featured in the new show will begin on March 2 at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall in Fort Worth, Texas.
The other six performances will take place: Wednesday, March 5 – The Factory in Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas

Other shows are set for Sunday, March 9 – Oklahoma Ranch in Oklahoma City, OK and Wednesday, and March 12 at the Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa.
The competition will then head to Tennessee beginning Monday, March 24 at the Minglewood Hall in Memphis, Friday, March 28 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, and Wednesday, April 2 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
In addition to seeing how the up-and-coming stars handle the spotlight, Urban will perform his biggest hits and new music in the series.
The Road is expected to begin airing in Fall 2025.
