Buffalo Bills safety Taylor Rapp left the field at Highmark Stadium during the game against the New York Jets in an ambulance Sunday night.

Rapp, 25, stumbled and fell to the ground following a collision with teammate Taron Johnson during the second quarter of the game.

The safety was carted into the back of an ambulance on the field but he appeared to be moving his hands in a positive sign.

Rapp suffered a neck injury but was not taken to hospital, according to CBS.

With 1:10 remaining in the first half, New York’s running back Breece Hall hauled in a short catch and took it 15 yards before both Rapp and Johnson went in for the tackle.

As the two Bills players tackled Hall, they collided with each other with Johnson initially staying down after the play.

Rapp got to his feet as Bills staff ran from the sidelines to check on Johnson. The safety jogged off the field and away from the scene before appearing to lose his balance and stumbling.

He began to crouch down before collapsing to the ground, attracting the attention of Bills trainers. He received medical attention on the field before being hauled onto a stretcher and carted into the back of an ambulance.

Johnson was checked on the field by trainers before being able to get to his feet and jog to the locker room.

The Bills later confirmed that Rapp had been ruled out of the game with an unspecified neck injury, while Johnson was also out with concussion.

The scary scenes come ten months after the Bills suffered another terrifying incident when Damar Hamlin was also transported off the field in the back of an ambulance.

Hamlin, 25, collapsed on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2 following a hit on Tee Higgins.  He suffered cardiac arrest and had to be rescustiated on the field by athletic trainer Denny Kellington and Buffalo staff.

Hamlin made a miraculous recovery from the near-death experience and the television coverage panned to him as he stood on the sideline while the Bills anxiously watched on.

Earlier this season, the Bills suffered another eerily similar experience when running back Damien Harris laid motionless on the field following a neck injury against the New York Giants.

Harris was taken to a nearby hospital before Buffalo announced he had full movement of all extremities. However, he remains out indefinitely on injured reserve list.

Play resumed in Sunday’s matchup against the Jets with the Bills leading 16-6 at halftime.
