President Joe Biden told NBC’s Al Roker that his favorite memories from his time at the White House are of his grandchildren ‘sneaking up’ and jumping into bed with him and first lady Jill Biden.

Roker interviewed the president and first lady on the Truman Balcony Monday morning to kick off the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

The longtime NBC weatherman asked Biden for his favorite memory from his more than three years living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

‘Our kids jumping in bed with us – our grandkids, when they’re down here,’ Biden replied. ‘They’re sneaking up and jumping in bed with us. That’s my favorite memory. They love it. They love wandering through the halls. There’s two floors upstairs, a lot of bedrooms, the private residence and they just love coming down.’

Of the president’s seven grandchildren, only two are children, Baby Beau, who just marked his fourth birthday on March 28, and Navy Joan Roberts, 5, who the president acknowledged publicly for the first time in July.

His other five grandchildren – Hunter’s other three daughters – and the late Beau Biden’s son and daughter – are all adults, the youngest being 18-year-old little Hunter, who is a senior in high school.

Naomi Biden, 30, Hunter Biden’s oldest daughter and the president’s oldest grandchild, was married at the White House in November 2022.

During the brief interview, the president also shared his favorite moment from the three White House Easter Egg Rolls.

The Easter Egg Roll was cancelled during Biden’s first year in office in 2021, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘Well my favorite memories, there was a little girl, who’s having trouble with her eggs, she looked at me, she’s about 3-years-old, “Can you help me Mr. Pwesident,”‘ Biden recalled, mimicking a little kid’s voice.

Roker, 69 noted how the Easter Egg Roll got its start in 1878 during the administration of President Rutherford B. Hayes, joking, ‘I think I met him.’

‘He was a classmate of mine,’ 81-year-old Biden added.

Biden also talked about how special it is to open the White House up to the public, noting that 40,000 Americans had been invited this year.

‘It’s the largest ever,’ he boasted.

‘This is their place,’ he added. ‘And it always makes me feel good to look out there and see average Americans just walking around looking at what’s going on because they own it, they own it.’

He said the same to Roker, ‘this is your house pal,’ with the weatherman saying he was going to stop by the White House kitchen.

Roker then invited the president and first lady to come with him to Ben’s Chili Bowl, a D.C. institution on U Street, that serves half smokes topped with chili.

Biden teased that he would come along.

‘Like a poor relative, I show up when I’m invited,’ the president said.
