Production for the second season of Gen V has been officially delayed following the tragic death of star Chance Perdomo.

The British-American actor, known for his roles in the superhero series and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, passed away at the age of 27 due to a motorcycle accident, which reportedly occurred late Friday night. 

The cast and producers of Prime Video’s Gen V were scheduled to gather on Saturday afternoon for the shows’ first Season 2 table read, in preparation for filming commencing on April 8 in Toronto, according to Deadline. 

The series’ creators are now tasked with deciding to revise the scripts to bid farewell to Perdomo’s character or seek a replacement actor for the role, per the outlet.

In the spin-off to The Boys, Perdomo played super-powered Andre Anderson, and starred alongside actors Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Asa Germann and Shelley Conn.

The Los Angeles born actor, who grew up in the UK, was killed in a single vehicle smash, according to officials. No other details of the crash have yet been shared, Deadline reported.

The producers of Gen V released a statement on Saturday following the tragic passing of Perdomo. ‘We can’t quite wrap our heads around this,’ the producers wrote.

‘For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person.

‘We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague.’ 

Perdomo shared a picture on Instagram just two days ago of him at the gym, captioned ‘aven’t started. Already exhausted. Whatever it takes, I guess.’

Heartbroken fans have now flooded the comment section with their reactions to the sad news.

‘So so sad to hear of his passing. Such an amazing actor,’ one fan wrote.

Perdomo first appeared in the short film Longfield Drive as Rodell in 2016 and went on to star in TV shows such as Midsomer Murders and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Perdomo’s publicist confirmed the tragic news with Variety, saying in a statement: ‘It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident.’  

‘Authorities have advised that no other individuals were involved. His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest.

‘We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.’

In 2020, Perdomo was listed as one of the top 10 Brits to watch for 2020, alongside rapper Stormzy and actress/model Jodie Turner-Smith.
