New York Trump supporters are optimistic that the former president can clinch the highly liberal state on November 5.

Donald Trump is holding a rally at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan Sunday evening in a longshot bid to win over voters in the Big Apple.

But supporters lined up hours ahead of his arrival don’t think Trump winning in 2024 is an impossibility.

‘I think it will be closer than ever. If he doesn’t take it, it’s gonna be close,’ Brooklynite Melissa Vitelli, 37, told DailyMail.com as she waited to gain entry into The Garden.

The rally will feature a stacked line-up of speakers including Elon Musk, UFC CEO Dana White, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., conservative media personality Tucker Carlson and former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

New Yorkers supporting Trump predict he has a chance to take the liberal state that has voted blue in every presidential election since 1988

Some have questioned the venue selection with just a bit over a week until Election Day, but pro-MAGA New Yorkers are convinced Trump could pull it off despite the state voting Democratic in presidential elections every single cycle since 1988.

‘I think in 2016 people said there’s no way Donald Trump would ever win the United States, it’s never going to happen. New York is, in a lot of ways, a mirror culturally of what’s going on,’ Michael Rydelek, 27, told DailyMail.com.

‘And just as crazy as the win in 2016 was, I think we’re looking at the same thing in 2024,’ the Rockland County native speculated. ‘You have a lot of people in New York City that are aware something needs to change and willing to go forth with that change. New York City’s a big part of that equation.’

‘People say, ‘why is Trump at Madison Square Garden?’ Well he’s making a play for New York,’ Rydelek added.

Another New Yorker said that she thinks Trump has a shot at another term after she heard people openly talking about casting their ballot for the ex-president when she went to early voting on Saturday.

‘You have a lot of people in New York City that are aware something needs to change and willing to go forth with that change. Gladys Picket, 80, of Westchester said she left her home at 7:30 a.m. to make it to The Garden to see Trump speak just nine days before the 2024 election.

‘My area is very liberal and the people I am surrounded by are,’ the Puerto Rican-American said. ‘Yesterday, when I went to vote I was surprised to see the demeanor of people waiting in line. And it was amazing to see people actually talking openly about voting for Trump.’

Vitelli said she’s even seen a shift in her Brooklyn neighborhood even though a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Saturday shows Brooklyn going 60 percent for Harris and 33 percent for Trump.

‘I live in a Hasidic Jewish neighborhood, Borough Park – they have Trump flags up. They’re relatively known for voting Democrat. And it is, it has shifted,’ Vitelli said.

‘It was really nice to see, actually,’ she continued. ‘And they understand that, you know, the corruption is deep.’

‘There’s definitely more of a shift,’ Vitelli said of Brooklyn’s political leanings from 2016 to 2020 and then from 2020 to the election this year.

‘I think the media had a lot to do with it,’ she added. ‘The more negative they are towards him, the more it wakes people up. Like, okay, he’s being targeted. And we feel as citizens, like, if he could get targeted, so can we.’

Vitelli already cast her ballot for Trump on Saturday as early voting kicked off in New York.
