Steven Miles’ morning walk along the beach with his wife just two days before the Queensland state election has divided Aussies.
The Premier enjoyed some downtime with his wife Kim McDowell on Marcoola Beach on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday morning.
The pair walked hand-in-hand and posed up for photos, with the premier later sharing a selfie to his social media platforms.
The post received mixed reactions, with many pledging their vote to Labor, while others took the chance to slam the politician.
‘Family man Steven Miles deserves another go. We are with you Steven!’ one Queenslander commented on Instagram.
‘Thank you for looking after us health workers! You are doing a fabulous job for everyone in Queensland. The state will continue to look brighter with you as our Premier. You are a top leader,’ said another.
‘Love the beach walks, Steve. You’re an actual leader, not like (Liberal leader David) Crisafulli who’s just out to cut services,’ one wrote.
Others on social media weren’t as pleased with the morning walk, referencing polls that indicate the LNP is likely to come out on top at Saturday’s election.
‘We are prepping to party once you’re gone, one said.
‘How many Aussies living in tents did you spot on your beach walk?’ said another, referencing the country’s housing problem.
‘You two can retire in Noosa,’ commented one.
‘You mandated our State, caused people to die alone, caused business to close and family’s to stop speaking.. Only fools would vote for that tyranny again,’ one comment read.
Mr Miles will go head-to-head with Mr Crisafulli on Saturday when Queenslanders head to the polls. More than 900,000 voters have already cast their ballots.
The LNP remains ahead in the polls but their lead over Labor has shrunk in recent days.
Mr Miles became premier of the Sunshine State when Annastacia Palaszczuk stood down in December last year.
Mr Crisafulli has been leader of the LNP since November 2020.
Mr Crisafulli’s campaign has been dogged by questions surrounding his views on abortion after he voted against decriminilisation in 2018.
