Grim footage has captured the moment a young woman’s foot bent in half while on a popular ride.

Pippa Sutherland, from Melbourne, went to the Slingshot Surfers Paradise attraction, on the Gold Coast, last month.

Ms Sutherland and her friend were securely strapped into the chairs when they were slowly being brought down by the operator.

She shared footage to her Tiktok showing the moment her left foot begins to bend after it became caught on the stopper below.

A panicked Ms Sutherland is heard saying ‘my foot’ as it bends at a dangerous angle.

Recognising that Ms Sutherland is in distress, her friend turns the other way and calls out to one of the operators saying, ‘Her foot!’

Ms Sutherland then begins to scream that her foot is stuck as the operators continue to lower the ride forward.

‘My foot’s stuck,’ she said.

Her foot then becomes unstuck just as it appears it is about to snap in half.

‘Ow,’ Ms Sutherland screamed as the ride came to a standstill.

Ms Sutherland suffered a sprain to her ankle before she was taken to hospital for treatment.

Another video showed her limping out of the hospital with her left foot strapped in a black velcro bandage.

Ms Sutherland said she was surprised her ‘foot is still in one piece’ in the caption on the video.

is not suggesting the ride operators are at fault.

Social media users quickly flooded the video with comments expressing their shock the woman was not seriously injured.

‘That looked like it hurt. A lot. I thought you broke your Talus [lower part of the ankle] in half,’ one wrote.

‘Your foot was definitely stuck!!! I felt your pain and hollered for you,’ another added.

‘Gasped and covered my mouth OUCHHHHHHHH’.

After the ride came to a complete standstill, the gruesome moment Ms Sutherland’s foot is released from the stopper after she was resting her leg on it moments earlier was captured (pictured)

Ms Sutherland was seen in one video uploaded to her TikTok page (pictured) limping out of hospital after she suffered a sprain to her toes

Others questioned why the woman was resting her leg on the stopper below and why she had no shoes on.

‘Where are your shoes and who let you on without them??!’ one wrote.

‘Soooo common sense didn’t say to you “move your foot”?’ a second wrote.

‘Looks like she didn’t have time to move her foot.’

On its website, the Slingshot is described as a ride that launches thrill-seekers into the air ‘at over 160 kilometres an hour’ allowing riders to ‘experience the thrill of a lifetime’.

The ride goes for a duration of up to five minutes and passengers are released 90m into the air.

Two riders need to be on the ride at any one time before it can be released.

The seats on the rides are attached to steel cables and shoulder harnesses and a between-the-legs safety belt are placed over the head and chest of the passenger when they get on board.

The website says, ‘Riders will experience weightlessness, rapid movements from side to side and rapidly changing forces’.
