Radio legend John Laws has revealed what he really thinks of shock jock Kyle Sandilands.
The veteran radio announcer, 89, was being interviewed by the Daily Telegraph when he was asked about how to improve the n media industry.
‘Oh, get rid of a few people that are a pain in the a***,’ he said, before launching into his assessment of Kyle, 53, who hosts the popular KIIS FM breakfast show The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Laws, who has been on-air for over 70 years, thinks Kyle is ‘a talent’.
‘I happen to like Kyle. I think he is very interesting and he is no dill. He likes to give the impression that he is a dill.’
In fact, Laws likes Kyle so much that he admitted to a very kind gesture when the KIIS FM shock jock married Tegan Kynaston.
‘I sent him a wedding present,’ said the talkback star.
The veteran radio announcer recently announced his retirement, saying that 70 years in the business is ‘long enough’.

Laws revealed on 2SM on earlier this month that he will hang up his headphones on November 8.
Laws made the announcement live on-air, after reading a letter from a listener who was keen to thank him for years of entertainment on the airwaves.
‘You’re not going to be hearing it for long, mate, I think it’s time for a rest, is what I think,’ he said.

‘I’ve done it for a very, very, very, very long time. 70 years, is it long enough? It’s long enough.’
Laws began his career in AM radio back in 1953 at 3BO in Bendigo and his unique style earned the broadcaster the nickname ‘The Golden Tonsils’.
After four years at 3BO, he moved to metro broadcaster, 2UE, where he became one of the first DJs to play rock ‘n’ roll music.
Laws stepped away from radio for four years in 2007 and returned to the air on 2SM in 2011.

In September, he returned to his S2M Super Network show after spending an extended stint in hospital.
After seeking medical care for a blocked ear, his health rapidly deteriorated and he was admitted to St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney for three weeks.
He had contracted pneumonia, but later revealed he was luckily on the mend.
‘I’m alive, I’m well, I’m happy,’ he told The Saturday Telegraph.
In 2022, he took bouts of leave from his radio gig after suffering from respiratory infections.
Despite this, Laws had told the publication that he had no plans of retiring.
‘I turn on the microphone and the board fills up every day and I’m back, on air, doing what I love to do,’ he said.
‘Why would I stop?’ the veteran shock jock added.
Presenter Dave Cochrane filled in for John on his 2SM show while he was in hospital.
Speaking to listeners, Cochrane said: ‘I’m sorry to say you’ve got to put up with me again today, the king is still not feeling the best but we’ve got our fingers crossed that he may be back and behind the golden microphone tomorrow.’
Laws lost his wife Caroline to cancer in February 2020 after 40 years of marriage.
